Default Coupes, ever drop your top?

...the other day I accidentally dropped my top on my center console and now theres a hole in the vinyl. Looked into a VetteEssential center, it was $200 holy crap. Anybody else make a cool center console, or seats for that matter that dont cost $2000?

I've seen the VE stuff on several cars, i've driven a car with the VE arm rest. I know it's VERY expensive, and i hear mid america has some cheap stuff. But i promise you get what you pay for. I am poor but I most likely will be installing a VE consol as well. It just feels completely different!

No, never dropped it on my console. I always make sure I have a very firm grip on it because I have heard of others doing just what you did.

Yes, the VE stuff is not cheap, but quality does cost. As an alternative, check out the Mid-America line of interior products.

Yea I like the VE stuff, I REALLY want it, Id do an entire interior job (who wouldnt). Then again, I also want to get a total paint job, with tigershark kit, new rims, A&A ATI procharger kit..the list could go on

Hmmmmm Corvettes at Carlisle is coming up, perhaps Ill make a trip, this time with some money.

Yes I have dropped the top into the car once. I got lucky and did no damage. Sounds like a good excuse to get an interior upgrade.

you know i've wondered about this myself since, like most if not all, i put on & take off the roof myself. now i'll be x2 as careful to make sure it gets seated before i let go. on these forums we've heard of the frc (flying roof club) which none of us wants to join. now we have to avoid the drc (dropped roof club) as well. like gilda radner used to say "...it's always something..." bub

Happened to me with my 2000 coupe, right before I sold it... Put a nice slit in the console cover.

I've got a red/black cover that I bought from a Forum member - I think it's a MidAmerica piece.

Redline looks good. Im too cheap to put it in now though, maybe when the center console really gets torn up.

I run my solid top in the summer cause of heat rejection, and the glass one in the winter. Since my hand is busted, I should have used the lighter glass one.

The wife put the targa on the car and scratched the car. Of course she didn't tell me, but my son did. It's not too bad but a lot worse than it was before...

You get what you pay for and nothing against Redline but it is not in the same ballpark as VE products.

I bought a mint used stock one at carlisle last year for 20 bucks. THey have dozens at the swap meet. Have someone pick one up for you.

I have one that is 99.9% perfect just a tiny almost invisible 1/8' slice (i mean you really would never see it) took me 4 months to even notice it was there afte ri bought it. You can have mine for just the price of shipping if you want.

The cover on my center console got a slit in it (from my elbow) I took it off and had it recovered at a local auto upholstery shop for $40.00. It looks as good as new now. I saw those aftermarket covers, but I did not care for the "fat" look. (different strokes for different folks) I also did not care to spend 150-200 bucks on it when I preferred the original look.
