Default Shipping Costs ??

Need some info from anyone who has shipped an exhaust system.

I've successfully (?) bid on a ZO6 exhaust system from eBay. The seller is telling me that the best price he can find for shipping cost is from FedEx ground for $80 EACH, because of the size. I really dont wany to pay $160 for shipping.

Any suggestions I can forward to him on how to pack and ship will be immensely appreciated.

Try shipping them via Greyhound. I hear that they have decent shipping rates.

Thanks ......

My first reaction was "these guys are messing with me"........

But, when I checked the Greyhound GPX website, the quote was about $60 (for a 5 ft tall box) from terminal to terminal. For those savings, I can drive 40 miles to the bus station.

Most people don't ship them in a box, they just wrap them up in bubble wrap, paper or plastic.

Forget all the above. Tell the seller to pack the Ti's in a large cardboard wardrobe box available at a U-Haul Travel Center for $10. Bubble-wrap the heck out of the tips and flanges and BOTH catbacks will fit in there snugly. Cost to ship via FedEx Ground - $82 TOTAL! (will vary due to distance shipped though). I've done this twice with great success.

I bought a set and had them shipped from CA to Minnesota a couple of months ago. The seller shipped them parcel post for approx. $75 -- and the post office did the packing! They boxed the mufflers, and wrapped the pipes -- arrived with no damage.

Dont forget about fuel surcharge. Most linehaul carriers are at nearly 22%. Why do I know this kind of info.... I've been in the transportation industry for 12 years and know the in's & out's!!
