Started car today, warmed it up, put in reverse and died. After 3 times saw the above message. I put the CLB in my 98 a few weeks ago but thiis is the first message.
So do folks thing that this is CLB related or key resistor related ? Past posts go both ways. I am confused. Car has few miles so key is not worn out.
I had the recall done months ago, mine is a 98 A4, had the plate removed and K-harness in stalled by the dealer. A week or so ago i got the same messege, and the fuel cut off....It had to be towed to the dealer and what they found was a bad relay in the K-harness and it was replaced. Don't think for a minute that you will never get stung just because the recall has been performed. However from what I understand it can be many things that can cause this issue. Good luck
BTW...The dealer had my car for only one day and it was back to me and I didnt pay a penny for the tow or anything Bob McDormans in Ohio
I have a 2000, and had the recall done. I have had the "pull key wait 10 seconds" message 4 times since the recall was done. Before the recall, I had only gotten the message once. I am taking it back to the dealer on Monday. I dont have the CLB, and of course the dealer didnt recommend it or even know about it. I dont know what I will do if they dont fix the problem. It has always started right away after the message though. But I have heard of people being stranded where it would never start.
Happened to me last Sunday. Stopped to get gas, started the car and the steering wheel was locked with the same message. "Pull key wait 10 sec". I did that then it said "service column lock". Monkeyed with it for 15 min to no avail. Called a tow truck and towed to the dealer. I had received a few mo's back a re-call for this, so figured it was covered....NOT. Dealer said it was the column lock module which is not a part of the re-call. Spent 2 hrs on the phone with GM. First person said they'd cover it, then they called the dealer then changed their mind. In all it cost $379 bones to replace module. Then had to take it back to my tuner to reprogram the PCM back to my spec's. OH, GM said they'd send me $400 bucks off for my hassle on a new or used GM car. Whoopee

This also happened to me 2 days after I bought the car, it's an 01 w/ 23K. I thought it was going to be covered, but the dealer said my lock actuator failed and won't unlock, and I had to shell up $500 for the part, labor, and towing(they even got me there!). Fortunately, the dealer I bought it from is covering it, or at least half, I'm still waiting it. It really sucked, but I was fortunate this didn't happen on the trip back to TN and got stuck in the smoky mountains or anything (boy...you got a PUUURTY mouth!)
My fuel shut off even before the recall. I am reading other replies to this, now I am worried about taking it to the dealer on monday. Who knows what they will charge me??????
