Default auto conversion

Just wondering if anyone has done an auto conversion on a z06.
I know, it kills the whole point of having the z06, but for drag racing, it would sure help consistency, and also lessen the stress on driveline parts.(most important!)
I'm looking for a z06, and like the potential of the auto for a street driven, high hp car.
Not sure I'd do it, just curious.
Just an idea, if anyone can point me in the right direction to get some questions answered, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Brian

There are a few hardtops running around with automatic's. Not too sure what is involved to convert it...but it's true. Automatics hit the tires a LOT less and there isn't that sudden shock to the driveline like a stick launch.

I'm sure a few will chime in. You could cross link this in the drag racing section too.

Thanks, Jay.
Yea, I considered the hardtop route, but it would be kinda neat to do the z06 conversion.
I'd really like a z06 to start with.
I'll poke around in the drag section again, maybe it's been covered and I missed it.

Thanks much for the info.

The only question I have is in regard to the torque specs for the trans you listed.

Looks kind of low for a true drag application, especially with a big increase in hp.

I guess the trans could be upgraded like the 4l60 to take the high hp app's.

Thanks again.
I probably won't do the conversion, just wanted some food for thought.

Yea you are correct if you did much to the engine the tranny would have to be beefed up. I was in the same boat, just sort of researching the possibility of doing this. I love the FRC body style but I am a bracket drag racing enthusiast. I think I am leaning towards the 2006 C6 A6 now.
