For cleaning windows, avoid products that contain ammonia, because ammonia can damage window tint film on the inside of the windows. Although the tint may have already been in place when you purchased the vehicle, you may not realize that it is a film that needs to be protected. Clean water and lint-free towels are effective for quick window touch-up.
Now, I'm assuming that they're talking about the outside of your windows, but still, this is news to me. What DOES ake sense is that you should never use ammonia-based products to clean your targa top. There are enough reports about delaminations without adding more. So, to keep that targa top looking new, keep it out of the sun for prolonged periods and do NOT use common glass cleaners on it!
You should not use glass cleaners because it is not glass. It is Lexan, the best stuff I have used for it is Plexus. Every time I see this question come up I post not to use products with ammonia.
I have a strange feeling that some members are using Windex. Still, I find it hard to believe that using anything less than ammonia-based stuff is sufficient to remove that plastic outgas-byproduct that ends up on the inside of our windshields. That stuff is a pain to remove completely.
Stoners invisible glass says it is ammonia free, that is what I use just on the glass. Ammonia products can mess up the other plastic parts like the trim as well.
