Depending on the car I'm in, I'll check out the berm and see if there is loose gravel. Then I kinda do a weave like a drunk driver kicking up the gravel. Some back way off once the weaving starts.

This sounds intentional, bright lights (high beams) and tailgating. probably wants to see if you have an exhaust plate or if you got the dirt off of your tail pipes.

Default Wuss???

[QUOTE=Mike Mercury]And escalate it I want. If I'm not at any fault and someone still decides to ride my bumper with bright lights - they will get it right back into their face. The reason these jerks do this in the first place is because too many people wuss out and do nothing.

If someone is riding your bumper with his high beams on, whether you are at fault (hogging the left lane perhaps?) or not, it's been my experience that it's best to let him pass. He's now gone, you still are driving your Corvette and zero stress. Again, don't misunderstand me here. I am an aggressive driver myself and more often than not, I am the one doing the passing. However on the rare occasion when I am in the left lane doing over the limit and someone is traveling faster than me and flashing me, I pull over and get out of his way the same way I would expect someone to get out of mine when I flash them. Wuss? I don't think so. Smart? ummm perhaps. : )

Do a controlled 180 degree spin, jam her in reverse while hitting the gas and aim your brights right back at 'em!

I had a friend when I was in the Air Force, who actually mounted an aircraft landing light in his back window; and would flick it on momentarily when a tailgater with bright lights offended him! ...did it for a while untill the Wichita cops got hold of him!

I saw a movie where Sylvester Stallone did the above and it works perfectly...only instead of bright photons he was shining a 9mm!

In fact, I think it was in Miami!

Probably the best car action since Bullitt!

My personal worst was about 15-16 years ago when I still had some testosterone left, and a tailgater pulled up on me in lane 2 of 3 on a surface street w/45 mph limit. No other cars around and I had just come from a bad real estate deal and was p*ssed.

At that time I drove a Lincoln Mk7 (full wheel/tire/suspension mods, 3.73, heads/cam, Vortech 12 psi, 4000 stall, a genuine HR Lincoln), I downshifted to 1st, threw a hard left (lane change) stabbed the brake hard (4 wheel discs) and floored it, in one second I was in his left blind spot-hard right-almost clipping his rear bumper as it shifted to 2nd, now I'm in his right blind spot and moving at least 20-25 mph faster-pass him, hard left, stab it and we're the same as we were!

About 6 seconds of blurred black Lincoln with flowmasters roaring and I'm 3 feet in front of him letting it decelerate in 2nd. He leaps on his brake and swerves over to a side street and gone!

Now that's the damn stupidest dumbass thing I've ever done in my conservative life-but it sure felt great!

But what If I had clipped him and we all got hurt!

May the BOOST be with you!

Roy

Never did it again (no more testosterone)-but sometimes here in LA...

Ignore it, let him pass, pull over. Basically in any way that doesn't stress me out. Sometimes things like that happen.

I also have a large quad cab ram with a hemi. I seam to not have these problems when I am in it, but get no respect from people driving on my tail or pulling out in front of me in the vette. They figure you will avoid THEM in the small car but they don't want to take the chance against a big truck.

I'm skipping ahead here, but in Texas you'd pull our your firearm (Colt Diamondback four inch or perhaps a Beretta if you prefer autos) and shoot their headlights out.

Edit, just saw this post:

Which are slightly brighter than reverse lights... LOL!!! Maybe after you've done an HID conversion.

If someone is coming up fast in the left lane and ends up tailgaiting me, no matter how fast I am going I will pull to the right and let him pass. Don't get me wrong here, I am a fast driver myself and nothing get me going like someone hogging the left lane. When I come upon a left lane bandit I will flash my high beams and expect them to pull to the right and let the faster traffic pass. If the person decides to brake check me, play games like slowing down or anything else dumb, it will only escalate the situation. Just let faster traffic pass you. Whats the big deal? Left lane bandits are the worst. If you are slower, stay to the right.
the left lane is the passing lane.
