I covered the alternator and the battery.
On a cold engine, sprayed a dilute (4 water to 1 part cleaner) of Simple Green.
Let it soak for 20 minutes
Then hit it with the pressure washer on a wide spray pattern.
A garden hose with a nozzle would probably also do. I thoroughly flushed to ensure all the simple green was washed off.
I then used my leaf blower and blow dried the engine.
I followed up with rags and q tips.
Then wiped Aerospace 303 vinyl protectant on all the rubber and plastic parts.
There are products in the stores, like the *Engine Brite* made by GUNK. Though I've never used it, but is sounds easy to use. On the instructions it says, just spary (its like a foam) while covering the electrical parts. Then just wash it down. That's it. Its made for this application, so I'm guessing it should work fine... Let us know which way you go..
