For some reaosn my Vette isn't recognizing my key...
Sometimes I'll put they key in and try to start it and nothing. I wait 5 or so minutes and it starts up but the security light stays on.
Do I need to go to the dealer to have them reprogram it or can i do it at home? Why did this happen? And it happens to both of my keys, not just one.
I had a second key made and have some of the same problems. Mine will start but the light stays on. Not sure if this is really a problem since everything is working. Is your key a copy or original ?
Got the car used... Not sure if they are originals or not. I assume not.
It worked fine for the first year and a half or so, just giving me problems now.
your key should have a chip in it. the computer in your car may have something wrong in it as far as reading your code. If you read your owners manual it will explain to you how to reset your codes and maybe that will fix your problem. If not then the dealer would need to reprogram your computer to make the codes match or they may try to sell you a new key with a new chip in it which is like $300.00
