does anyone know anyplace that services the pioneer factory 12 disc cd changer? the changer in my 99 has stopped recognizing discs. mechanically it seems fine. it loads o.k, the disc light on the head unit blinks then goes solid. when i hit the aux. button to play it it either says err or it says disc 1, 0 tracks. i talked to an authorized pioneer service center but as soon as they heard it was a factory installed unit they said they wouldnt service it, couldnt get parts for it, couldnt deal with it. Called the dealer near me who is really good with vettes and they didnt have a clue either. any help at this point would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to replace this without making sure its not an easy fix but i cant even get anyone to look at it. Thanks ahead of time for any input.

I used to be in the stereo repair business a long time ago, and it is for that very reason nobody likes to work on factory equipment, you can't get parts. You might try running a disk cleaner though it and/or check with any local stereo repair shops, you might get lucky. Other than that, you might want to think about upgrading you whole stereo system, including an Ipod. I have my entire CD collection on my Ipod so I am never looking for a CD. Good luck.

I would call the US headquarters of Pioneer and ask them who they recommend. You might also want to try this service locator:

This guy has a pretty good reputation - he did work on factory head units:

Did you try unplugging, then reconnecting the power connector from the bottom of the unit? Sometimes that resets it and it will start working properly.
