I currently have a Haltech Tric Intake that I installed on my 2000 FRC back in 2000. The problem with that Intake is that I am afraid to drive the car to work or any distance because I am afraid of rain and ingesting water.
Can some of you guys make recommendations on a replacement?
It is a bottom breather. Not sure what I am going to do with the TRIC if and when I remove it. I am content for the car to be a Garage Queen and drive it short distances as my commute is over 65 miles and driving the Vette on 695, 495 and 270 the corridor scares the hell out of me.
Better to drive the Big 2000 C/K truck (mileage sucks) than have my shouldes in my ears when I drive the Vette.
You do not need to worry. I had a TRIC and drove it in the rain no problem. I had this lil red cover (Halltech used to sell them, not sure anymore) that I put over the filter in the rain. As long as you do not drive through a puddle that engulfs the filter you have no worries.

I had the tric on my 2000 coupe and drove in all kinds of rain, including trip from San Jose to San Diego that was solid rain the whole way; the car never missed a beat. The only cases of hydrolock I've heard about involved driving slowly through standing water deep enough to be sucked into the filter.
