Chances are that most dealers don't even know what a CAGS Eliminator is so they probably completely misunderstood what you were asking. Since it is only an after market device they definitely wouldn't have one in stock.
If I remember correctly I mentioned one at my dealership and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about.
I let things like this irritate me and I know I shouldn't, but it reminds me of this one "trusting soul" I know locally ...
He took his car to a local tuner and they charged him $900.00 to change his OEM brake line to SS ones!
...I was with several other people (we were replacing his calipers) when he mentioned this ...
One guy dropped a wrench when he heard the news. I think we all asked him several times to confirm ... no one could believe that was all he had done. Just a trusting guy ... we couldn't believe it ... dnd an unscrupulous mechanic/ Corvette Specialist at that.
I made him pinky promise he'd call and ask one of us before paying for something like that in the future.
I heard of some bad cases but that is the one of the worst cases... ...when dealerships do this sort of thing its not longer overcharging...
...it is stealing plain and simple
Took my 04 into get a new C6 shifter installed and told them to put the "CAGS" in while doing so. When I picked it up they said the "CAGS" would require two hours of labor because the whole exhaust system would have to be dropped in order to access the solenoid. Is this something exclusive to 04's or are they missing something?
Name the dealer/shop - so that others can avoid them like the plague.
They are ripping you off!
DIY, takes less than 5 minutes, and if you have a clean driveway it really can be done without raising the Vette (unless you have a real beer belly ).

I agree with all of the dealer rip-off comments. I have no idea what the CAGS eliminator costs, but all you have to do is step on the gas and not shift for like 5 seconds and you avoid the 1-4 economy shift all together. I suppose it could be a problem if you drive in very heavy traffic, but otherwise I have had it come into play twice in 8K miles and I do not have a lead foot.

Actually it eliminates the CAGS solenoid from activating, which normally blocks the shifter from going directly into 2nd gear at lower speeds. After the install you can shift directly from 1st to 2nd at any speed you choose. The PCM throws no DTC codes as it "thinks" the solenoid is still working. The yellow shift light however, still comes on.
