Took my 04 into get a new C6 shifter installed and told them to put the "CAGS" in while doing so. When I picked it up they said the "CAGS" would require two hours of labor because the whole exhaust system would have to be dropped in order to access the solenoid. Is this something exclusive to 04's or are they missing something?

I think I'd find another place to take my car in for maintenance. And I'd do it sooner rather than later. They just trying to get into your cookie jar for a couple of hours labor charge. The toughest part of the procedure is getting your car in the air to work on it. I installed the CAGS by-pass in about 5 minutes, and three of those minutes were spent seperating the connector at the tranny so the bypass could be plugged in.
I put mine in this week in 5 miutes. You will spend more time gettng the car in the air to get under it. It is very simple and exhaust is not in the way.
It took me longer to jack up my 2004 coupe, than it did to plug in the CAGS eliminator. I just used a floor jack, crawled under it, unpluged the origional connector, plugged in the CAGS eliminator, wire tied the old one in place, crawled out from under the car, let the jack down, and went for a test drive. Do it yourself, it's an easy mod.

You're right Stu.
I let things like this irritate me and I know I shouldn't, but it reminds me of this one "trusting soul" I know locally ...
He took his car to a local tuner and they charged him $900.00 to change his OEM brake line to SS ones!
...I was with several other people (we were replacing his calipers) when he mentioned this ...
One guy dropped a wrench when he heard the news. I think we all asked him several times to confirm ... no one could believe that was all he had done. Just a trusting guy ... we couldn't believe it ... dnd an unscrupulous mechanic/ Corvette Specialist at that.
I made him pinky promise he'd call and ask one of us before paying for something like that in the future.
