I was going to do this to my Black C5 before I started my C5R project. I think that the 77-79 badge lookes the best plus it's metal so you can give it a slight curl to fit the nose!!! It looks kinda like the new C6 badge. Good luck. Oh yeah and do what YOU want... don't listen to the haters. Un-less it's something you really need to listen to them about... like white wall tires.
and ive done the opposite put a c5 emblem on the nose of my 73,it goes with my electronblue paint and my c5 seats,i get flack from it but who cares its my car and its your car do what YOU like.
In general, I think it would not be a good idea, but I think there are a few exceptions. I think the following badge would look on the fenders, and I am considering it:

I removed the rear badge and will not replace it with anything. My rear fascai CORVETTE lettering is stainless steel inserts. The front badge would be gone too. were it not for the holes under it. I am thinking of getting a crossed flags badge that was used on the side fender, just behind the front tire, on the later versions of the C1. I think its one of the nicer badges, and really looks proper for any corvette. Its not wide and swoopy like the C5, but I think it has the 'Corvette look'. There may be some problem with the curvature of the fascia and the fit of the old emblem rear surface. One of these days I'll just buy one and see if I can make it curve to fit. You guys who like stock appearing cars can then have one more thing to add to the long list of other mods to complain about my car. [BIG GRINS]
