Default Tire sensors

My display keeps showing the tire sensor display. Can I buy the sensors for the rims and have the dealer install to remove that malfunction? Are they year specific or rim specific?

I would also like to know the answer to this question. A friend of mine claims the DIC can be set up to remove the tire pressure readings. In other words if you have 4 wheels and tires on the car with no sensors it can be set up so you dont have to reset the DIC all the time. Does anyone know how to do this?

The sensors will go in any wheel & are about $150 each. Not year specific. I do not know how to disable the DIC error message but I hear you can do it on 01 & newer models.

You can in fact buy replacement sensors.

Fred Beans actually has them on special right now. Check this thread.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...1&forum_id=103

There are two different sensors, one for 97-00 and one for 01-04's. They cannot be mixed, nor will one work on the other years. The receiver was changed mid model. On '01's and up you can have the TPS turned off with a computer change like LS1Edit. It cannot be disabled on 97's-00's...period. The dealer, or any good tire place will be able to make the swap for you. You might also try retraining the offending sensor first. Use this TechTip:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=77&TopicID=1

If that doesn't work, you likely need a new sensor. They have a battery in them and it is supposed to last 5 to 7 years....your mileage may vary.

This is completely WRONG. There are two different sensors dependant upon year. THEY CANNOT BE MIXED.

97-2000 Sensors

10438853 - sensor – 88.42 each
10268439 - nut – 1.31 each (5 pack)
10268438 - washer – 1.31 each (5 pack)

2001-2004 Sensors

25773946 - sensor – 57.38 each
15125473 - nuts – 2.56 each

I don't know if Neri Creations is back doing sensor rebuilds but it's worth a shot!

By the car year. The OEM rims will all accept all sensors. Most aftermarket wheels will accept the sensors as well with a few notable exceptions. You need the '97-'00 sensors to work with the receiver that your car has.

Who cares, do them yourself for about 3-4 dollars. See this link.
