Is Plastic Great Or What?
I was more pi$$ed at the red Suburban that pulled up against the grain and blocked 3 handicapped spaces and my vision of any cars pulling into the parking lot.
It was a hot day and the car that hit me had an unadorned plastic bumper, and he was going slowly so as not to hit the Suburban. The left 2 feet of his bumper hit the rear 2 feet of my right side. I think the heat softened the two plastic pieces and lessened the blow.
I told the other guy we were lucky, but I was thinking he was lucky. Later I realized that I was lucky. I thought I parked defensively as it was slightly overlapping a large handicapped spot. Will have to try harder.
Thanks for the well wishes.

If you had been hit a little harder, then you would have lost the quarter panel and maybe the tail section. That happened to me and the repair bill was an amazingly low $3300. I was amazed that it was so cheap considering the amount of damage. Painting had to be a big portion of the repair as they had to repaint a large portion of the car and make it match.
So... maybe the insurance rates DO reflect the low cost of repair. Maybe a lot of minor boo-boos are never even seen. They make that pitch on the Saturn.

but how is that possible?..not even a scratch?
...if you rub a rough cloth over the paint it scratches it
