I have an 03' Coupe that it is almost paid for ( 1 more year to be exact.) But lately I've been having this itch that I usually get once in a while. ( An itch to buy a car) Don't get me wrong, although I love my C5, I've been having this thought of selling it or trading it in. My problem is, I'm not having any thoughts of purchasing another Vette ( C5 Z06 nor the C6) instead, I am having thoughts of getting a 94 Viper or a used Prowler. Now I know some dislike the snake and the Prowler does not even have enough power to outrun a Mustang, but it looks really cool and I actually think that it will be a classic 20-30 years from now. Any thoughts would be helpful ( Aye or Nay )
I looked at the prowler when i was looking at the vette, and well they stopped making the prowler after a few years for a reason. The vette is a classic, its been contiously produced for over 50 years, keep it.

This most likely may be a more appropriate discussion topic for the Other Cars section of the Forum. Too, you'll probably get less biased opinions and answers there. Good luck.

I thought about that, but I figured I'd get more responses here biased or not. But anyways, I also thought that maybe a few Vette owners might have owned one of the 2 cars I mentioned above so they can give me a better insight over these cars. And as you can see, I am looking at used Vipers and or Prowler because price wise, it is only a little bit more if not close to the selling value of my C5 which according to KBB, the range between trading in, private part value and retail is between 28,000 - 38,000 with 11,500 miles.
I love my C5, dont get me wrong. But Im definitely going to want to try out a few of my other dream cars before I punch out.
The Viper is next on my list. If possible, keep the Vette for the daily driver. I have been reading everything I can find on Vipers, and the vast majority of what I read is that it is not a great daily driving machine. For me thats not a big deal, I dont mind being a little uncomfortable if Im driving a car I really enjoy and love. Even if it means maintenance issues. But it would be easier to swallow if there was a reliable C5 to drive when the other toy is getting repairs.
The Prowler is a really eye catching car too. I think they rock. Not too sure on the performance, but it doesnt sound like that is a major issue for you. Get the car that makes you smile when you are walking up to it in the parking lot. My C5 still does that for me every time.
Scratch that itch...you will never regret following your dreams. You can always switch back if the reality doesnt live up to the fantasy.
What about an older Vette? You might be able to trade straight across with a guy that wants something newer and get a really sweet ride. You can always try their FORUM and see what comes up. Plus if you stay with Vetts you'll stay with us. You might want to see a professional therapies too. Any body know one? Ken, you think you can help this guy? He’s not lookin good

At some point I'd like to try out a Viper, but the Prowler just doesn't do anything for me. I'm still very happy with my C5, so it will stay a while. If you have the itch, scratch it as life is too short to not get what you want.
It would be nice to get a few more looks in the Prowler but after that you'll be bored with the lack of "go fast" performance. The Viper is another story.....I'd have to go for the newer style though. I'd encourage you to chase that dream! But, you'll be back!!

Trying to be as objective as possible, the older Vipers and the Prowlers always looked like cartoon cars to me. The original Vipers didn't even have roll up windows or a roof. I suppose an arguement can be made that the original sportscars from the 50's had side curtains and a fabric top, but we don't live in the 50's and modern cars have "conveniences" like roll up windows and A/C.
The Prowler is all show and NO GO. At least the Viper had some cajones....
As someone else pointed out - follow your instincts and get what you want....you'll be back!
I use the vette for a daily driver.. it's not practical in the normal sense of the word, however it handles a good deal more than either of these cars would. Neither the prowler nor the viper has any practicality whatsoever, so neither would work on a daily basis.
If you like it, get it. You can always sell it and try something else.
