You're wanting to wait around 20-30 years for the prowler to turn into a classic???? The vette is a classic as we speak, and no need to wait 20-30 years for that one to happen. As for the Viper.....If you're considering a Viper, do it this way... Either pickup a 2000+ Viper or dont even get one at all.. That simple! I admit they're fast & nice cars, but I'm totally content with the vette since it's been my dream car. I, too, have an 03' that I'm still makin payments on.

Whatever decision you make, good luck... I know what I feel is the better car!

Now I know some dislike the snake and the Prowler does not even have enough power to outrun a Mustang, but it looks really cool and I actually think that it will be a classic 20-30 years from now. Any thoughts would be helpful ( Aye or Nay )

Prowler =
Viper = (I really like the 02 Hardtop style)

But I'd keep the vette over a 94ish viper... thats my opinion..

Going to Peoria today to visit my sister and will be looking at a Dodge dealership coz, I gotta get a part of my windshield washer that broke. if I find a used one. I'll see if they will let me test drive one and we'll see how I will feel about the Viper ( that is if they have a used one.)

i hate the prowler...very hard to get in and out of...personally i think its pretty ugly aswell...viper...nice car...but if you get a 94 it might have some problems and be expensive to repair...a viper is also not a every day car...the vette is a lot more practical good luck with your decision but i say KEEP THE VETTE

Once you have an itch for a different car it is time to try something new. If you are thinking it you should do it just so you know for yourself. You can always come back to the C5 as they made 30k of them a year.

The Prowler has ~250hp and I think it only comes in auto which is the biggest turn off for me. As for the 94 Viper... You do know that they do not have roll up windows so you could not park it anywhere without fear of people getting in it. If you are interested in a Viper get a Gen 2 as they are faster and have real windows. If you are using it for daily driving the Viper is really not a practical choice. I think of it more as a weekend toy versus a car. Now the Corvette makes the perfect daily driver.

From the things that I have read and people I have talked to that own the Viper is that although the Viper is a great car it is rough and not as refined as the Vette. If you are going to buy a Viper make sure it is a later model. The early ones had no roof and only 400 HP. It could easily be beaten by a lighter ZO6 Corvette. The Prowler has great looks but after driving it for a half hour it is uneventful according to sources. The power makes the car. I doubt that we would like the Vette much with an underpowered V6. I would test drive these cars extensively before you buy. You may want to look into a BMW Z4 with the 3 liter engine. Thay are not as fast as a Vette but are a ball to drive and have a lot of options.

I considered buying a Prowler when I was getting the itch to trade in my C4. A local Dodge/Plymouth dealer had a leftover ( last year of production), never titled and he was asking 35 or 38K. Obviously it's a matter of taste but I do like the look of it.
But it's basically a parade car and the guy who eventually bought it uses it on weekends and several local parades. If your content with that, then go for it, I still think it's a cool looking car. In my situation I wanted a car I could drive so I quickly ruled it out. I would agree that it will be collectible ( but not anytime soon ).

Personally my dream car is C5 Z06, I would definitely trade my '98 for one of those. But if you want a change then try as many different cars as you can, including the Viper. When I traded in my C4 I had driven at least a dozen different sports cars and coupes ( I wound up with another Vette)

Well ,thank you for all the responses. After thinking it through, and even though I didn't get to drive both the Viper and the Prowler, and my other co-workers,friends and family's suggestions. I decided to keep my C5 and keep for a long time I will.
Here are the Pros for the Prowler IMHO:
1. Looks retro and cool
Cons:
1. engine is mass produced which you can find on the Dodge Intrepid.
2. Interior is cheap looking.
3.Not as fast as the C5
Pros for the Viper
1. Brute power
2.Fast
3.Looks good
Cons:
1.I may have to go to the ER for burns on my calf everytime I drive it because of the exhaust position
2. For the 94, no rolled up windows, so I'm basically driving it and parking it in my garage, nothing else- cannot park it outside unless I want people going inside my car ( as far as I know )
3. From the Viper forum, -problems with engine mounts that needed to be replaced for a few times
4.From the Viper forum - ride is rough
C5 pros
1.looks good
2.fast
3.can be made to have brute power
4. did I mention looks good
Cons:
Could not think of one.

This being the corvette forum, the people here will be biased towards the vette. Me I'm extremely biased. Keep the vette!

Do what makes you feel best when you look out and see your car, or better, what makes you feel best when driving it.

I might consider the Viper, though the older ones aren't near as attractive to me as the vette. As for the Prowler... well... see above.

Hang in there... maybe this will pass.

Take a couple really deep breaths, then eat a Dark Chocolate Milky Way, and it'll pass. Always works for me.
