Just cleaned and re-oiled my blackwing. Man is sure seems like it takes alot of oil to cover all the "light or white" spots. How do I know if I over oiled the filter? The oil sprayer kind of spits out the oil, not very uniform.
You'll know you over-oiled the filter when your engine starts running rough and power output takes a nosedive!
Seriously, you should let the filter sit on some newspapers or paper towels for a while after you oil it. Like a California Duster when new, it's always a good idea to get the excess "stuff" out.

So how many miles did you have on it when the little indicator popped up?
Less than 10k. I was pulling off the after market air bridge to go back to stock and noticed how dirty the BW was. Then I tapped it on the garage floor and a good handful of dirt fell out. I also noticed how dirty it was inside the air bridge and front of the MAF So it was time for a bath.
Take care to not over oil it, it really does not take much to get the light film needed on the filter. Too much oil will foul your mass air sensor, then you've got an expensive PIA.
