Contimplating the sale of my vette- new baby on the way so I have it listed in auto trader starting @ 19995. 97, A4 Z51, G92 a garage queen queen with 63K miles...torch red
I get an email from a guy saying I am WAY high and that 15K will get it sold in a week...I just laugh and ask where he got his low ball # from? I told him a car with twice the milage would be closer to 15 not a 63K mile one...he replies that an over 100K car would be in the high 12's or 13...again I laugh...has anyone ever seen a decent C5 high milage car go that low? 12's? if it was in poor shape maybe...I know 19995 is a tad high, but 15 is WAY too low if you ask me...I will just keep it...hell, a year ago I sold a 94 Vert for 15 with 50K miles...so I can't be too far from a resonable price...
I think you're User Name is appropriate for some of the inquiries your getting. I think you're a bit high, but no where should the car be going for 15K. Like you, I would hold it before giving it away. Good luck

Also, I would not consider a '97 with 63k a garage queen though. A garage queen of that year would have 10k or less and there are plenty of those around.
I wouldn't sweat it. Yes, as you indicated you are a little too high, a little. I have a '97 MN6 with 54,000 miles and I would never part with it for 15K. This guy was just a used car dealer trying to make money on your effort. He'd buy it from you and then turn around and sell it for 18 and pocket the difference.
IMO 15K is too low, 20K is reasonable. If someone was really interested they would make an offer and not comment on your asking price.
Probably a guy who wants a C5, but can't quiet get there on his budget. If he's looking for a "bargain" car, yours obviously isn't the car for him. He shouldn't have wasted your time or his.
I have yet to see a drivable C5 for 12-13k. He's just some tire kicker trolling for a bargain. 15K is low for the miles on your car. Just remember, it's always easier to lower the price, versus pricing it too low and getting hammered on the deal.

I buy and sell a number of cars a year. Those idiots make my day. I end up agreeing with them and they get all happy, and at the end of the call, tell the to get F'd.
"not with the miles like i said 30k miles can be had for that.
they may ask that, but what they sell for
my friend just bought a 98 with 110k for 12,800
there out there.
I would probably be able to come up to somewhere bewteen 15and 16
but no where near 18k"
You see now he can come up with another grand...I say BYTE_ME! its worth it for me to keep it for that price! Of course he never answered me on what condition his so called friend 98 was in? or if it even existed...
I have a friend who has one that had some collision damage repaired but no salvage, 98' with 84k that could be had in the 13-14 range but for the car you have 18-20 is fair market value
~B~
I had a guy tell me that $20K for my 99 with 30K miles on it was too high. I laughed and told him that if he could find one like mine for $20K he'd better jump on it because somebody's wife must have listed it while the hubby was away on a business trip or something.
well i got lucky i guesss i bought my 98 with 59000 on it for $16600 but this was from a freind so i guess i was jus lucky and he knew i would take care of it jay
Hard to say w/o seeing yours, but one of the Vettes I had looked at previously was very clean w/ less miles and was a loaded 00 for a couple hundred bucks more (before negotiation).
The general high production of Corvettes and GM rebates at the end of the generation and introduction of the C6 lowered used C5 prices. High gas prices are also driving down used sports car and SUV prices temporarily in general as well. Many C5 owners with money are getting out of their C5s for C6s right now (more C5s on the market), but many used car buyers are waiting to see what gas prices will be like longterm.
I'd go to a couple dealerships for a quote, then aim for $2000 more than what they'll give you.

Thats also dumb... if you don't like the price, at most just make a friendly counter-offer.

I just sold my mint condition 97 with 94K on it for $15,000. I had had the car on the market for two months starting at $17,995 and after two months I was at a point where I just needed the money for the down payment on my house so I took the $15,000 offer. With winter coming in a few months, the high price of gas, and the glut of used C5s on the market right now you might want to think about lowering your price slightly if you need to move it quick. Or Just keep it and look for the right buyer to come along and pay the price you are asking. I did notice that the caliber of people I got calls from was not the normal corvette type of person, so don't let these people get under your skin. When you can get this much car for under 20K instead of a brand new Neon SRT, you are getting the 19 year old punk kid( kinda like I used to be) instead of the typical Corvette guy that has been into cars for a while and can understand resale value of the car and how much car you are getting for the money.
