Default Corvette Concepts

I have just found out that there is a company called Corvette Concepts only 10 miles away from my house. Supposedly they are the ones who help build and service the C5-R and C6-R for team corvette of the American Le Mans series. I was given the offer to have them customize my 2000 vert, but before I say yes I wanted to know more about the company. Has anyone heard of them and more importantly has anyone had them do work on their vette.

http://www.corvetteconcepts.com/

I've heard that their Mongoose Packages are pretty good. What are the terms of the customization?

Oh, it sounded to me like it was a kinda like giveaway/sponsership thing. What is the light graphics package, and side vent rails? Are the rails the frame savers?

I have no personall experience from that company but can tell you what I have seen. From a looks perspective all their cars look the same...to me custom is one off not to look like the neighbors car. I have seen a few of their "delco mongoose" packaged cars at dyno days. All of them made roughly 3 to 5 HP above stock. Another forum member here had made some serious accusations toward them...I do not know how or if that was resolved. He might chime in here and if he does I know he will have nothing good to say. Personally from what I have seen and heard I would not go there.

Hi SRQC5,

You and I are practically neighbors. The Corvette Concept guys are about 5 miles from my house (Fruitville Rd). I had Jake and Brian install a Mongoose package on my previous vette (98 vert). I was satisfied with the work that they had performed. I did not have the car dyno'd, but definitely noticed a SOTP difference. There are quite a few Mongoose packages around town and I have spoke with quite a few of them. I have only encountered one complaint (some interior "stick on" mods were peeling off). It sounds like they are proposing primarily cosmetics for your car. I would make sure you know what they are suggesting and if you are comfortable with the look, go for it.

I would use them again. BTW....welcome to the forum.

They did the inital work on my car with the Mongoose 425 package. Great guys.

But they had nothing to do with the C5R and C6R that was all Pratt & Miller in Mich. http://www.prattmiller.com

Hey Randy, How the hell have you been?
I take it you are talking about me. After the insurance company had my engine looked at and our local CNC shop ground copper out of one of the heads they tended to agree with me and paid me for a new engine.

Don't know what the graphics package entails, but as for the rest of the items, they are easily done by you. $850 seems high for what you are thinking about doing. JMO.

Brian and his dad are nice guy's. Somehow I don't see the million dollar race cars pulling up at their home based company garage.

Not particularly fond of their packages...
Way too overpriced for what youre getting IMHO

Jake (Dad) and Brian (son) are nice guys...
...and Brian is particularly helpful...

however...you should do it yourself or ask for help from others or dont do it...

in your case then:
I recommend someone....uhhh more than 10 miles away

Those who have and ear to hear let them hear what the prophet saith unto the vette owners...

you can paint your calipers yourself easily many people on the board have done that, and for the vent screens you can buy them and install them yourself. Maybe have them do the graphics.
Enjoy modding the car just my oppinion.

I have the 475 package on my 2003 Z..rwhp=395..If you want a car that has 800 rwhp and a one of a kind then they probably are not for you. They did a good job on my car and took great care of it while it was in their shop.I have done some of the mods myself but what I had them do on my car I have no complaints.FRC TOM tuned it and he did a great job....As for price....they may be a little high..but if you are not able to do anything yourself do you want cheap or good?
If their was a complaint it would be that Jake is critical of any work not performed by their shop...I know several other vette owners who have used them and I haven't heard any complaints about their work.
I don't think you would be dissapointed in the work that they offer..JMO.....Dave

Thanks for the advice...Im not into serious performance, but would like something other than your everyday vette. In sarasota they practically grow on trees (which is also a good thing). This is my first car and i just want to make it special. BTW i would like quality regardless of the price, if there is anything sugguesting their work is less than quality, please let me know ASAP

i found this out after only speaking with him on the phone for 15 minutes and personally i'd agree with him in a lot of respects .. there are a LOT of sh*tty "performance" shops around.

edit: btw & fwiw: i'll probably be bringing mine to him for my clutch swap.

Jake would make a h*ll of a used car salesman, as far as the C5-R and the C6R goes Careful he might try to sell you that big bridge down there...

Since you're not familiar with their history on the forum, let's just say they were banned for very unprofessional behavior.

To give you an idea of their service, about 4 years ago I ordered some painted emblems from them. It took me 6 months and many harsh words from Jake before I finally got them. I haven't and will never do business with them again.
