Every time I wash my car, it seems that a thin coat of rust hazes over on the rotors. What is the safest and best way to get it off?
thanks in advance
Keith
Until you get new rotors, like we need to do, after I wash mine I take it for a crawl up and down my driveway a few times to avoid the rust that you talk about and that I used to get before doing this. It sounds silly, but it works. Then I usually pull into the garage for more cleaning.
You don't even have to drive it around any where! In my driveway after washing, I let it roll backwards a bit, lightly hit the brakes. Drive it foward into the garage, lightly hit the brakes (before I hit the wall ) and bingo... no effort and no more rust!
What the hell are you doing getting water on your car!?!?!
Your car should never be in a situation that would make it dirty enough to require water. An occasional dusting with a California Duster, or at MOST a wipe down with Sal approved Zaino detailing spray with 100% American Virgin micro-kevlar towels. But water?!?!? Are you insane? Do you know what happens to these cars when they get wet?
I was washing my vette one day when a friend came by and was complimenting me on it. He then said the only thing he didn't like was the bronze rotors and I should order some that were chrome. I kinda laughed and told him a couple taps of the brakes would take care of it. They are ugly until they get cleaned

That's what I used to do.
After you get tired of that, just buy some sportbrakes zinc coated rotors like I did.
