Yesterday, after coming home from a 10 day trip flying, I went to start my vette and take it out for a nice round of errand runs. As I turned the key, nothing happend. I emidiately looked at the top of my windsheild toward my radar detector. Darn it, I had left it on and It had drained my battery dry.
After jumping it with one of my other vehicles, I was off and running for my first stop. It was a short 10mn drive to the office depot to purchase a replacement laptop that I really did need. I parked and went inside.
Anyway, after my lovely purchase, I again went to start my vette for the next errand on my list. As I turned the ignition, nothing. As it turned out, my battery had been so depleted by my radar detector that my quick 10 mn hop to the store had not been long enough to recharge my poor battery. Oh well. I hopped out of my car, walked back up to the front of the store, and proceeded to ask people for help with a set of jumper cables and 5 mns of their time.
After asking three people that unfortunatly weren't able to help, I happened to ask a father, still in his car with his adolecent son, if he could possibly lend me a hand. He says " sure I can which is your car ?" I reply, "It's the black vette right over there." To which the son blairs out with wide eyes and gusto, "Wow dad, you are so lucky, you get to jump start a corvette."
....Priceless

But i have left my radar dector on for a full week and it didnt drain my battery. (Parked car in garage on a Saturday and didnt drive it until next weekend)
speaking of nice stories, i recently aquired my drivers license, and went and took my dad for a drive in the vette(i love that dude, lol)and saw this like charity thing where these young kids who had some form of cancer, and there was one kid who was bald from the chemo, and we stopped and i heard him say to his doctor or nurse, "look at that red corvette!!", and with the goodness of our hearts we made a good donation..As we were leaving, the young boy told us he was gonna get one when hes cured. And i looked at him and i paused, and asked him"Have you ever been in a corvette, or gone for a ride?" He said no and i whispered to my dad if i can take him out for a quik spin. Without hesitating he agreed. I wish you coulda seen the look on his face.....it brought a tear to my eye to see this kid, no hair, sick, have the time of his life in a corvette convertible.
