I saw a post recent that qutoed prices like $800 for non-HUD and $1,200-$1,300 for a HUD windshield. They also said that the HUD will work just fine on a non-HUD windshield. I haven't had the experience but I don't see why a non-HUD windshield wouldn't work. It's just a reflection after all.

Had my HUD windshield replaced for $1300 (including the molding). If insurance is paying for it, I'd say demand kind for kind replacement. If you're paying out of pocket you can go non-HUD from everything I've heard here.
I've got a friend that is looking to repair or replace his windshield and I called around this area foe him to see what I would get on price. If they have to replace the molding as well it is about $1,100 and if they can reuse the old molding it is $850.00. Thats for a HUD model.

I also just replaced a windshield last month. The total was 1300 including molding for a HUD windshield. Insurance took care of it. I think the HUD one is a little thicker.
A former coworker paid $300 for the HUD windshield on his 2001 vert. Unfortunately, he seemed to have dropped out of the forum, so I may not be able to get ahold of him. My advice is to shop around until you find a person or shop that will do it for the non-corvette tax price. My deductible is just $100, so I had it done through my insurance agency. They were charged $1300 - ouch!
