One of the Forum Venodors is offering a GP on Hurst and B&M shifters.
I'm looking for a short throw shifter that is more precise than the stock.
Recommendations?
thanks
Rich
I've tried the Hurst and the BPP. Both offer excellent snick-snick short-throw action, but I opted for the slightly more expensive BPP because of its incredible range (16 possible positions)of adjustability (angled version).
I had a Hurst but moved to a C6. If you do any stop and go driving the Hurst gets old fast, IMO of course. The C6 is shorter and easier to shift than the C5.
I have a Hurst and like the precise feel, but HATE the sound of the transmission coming from the torque tube through the shifter! I've tried sound cancellation material, a half a tennis ball, and everything else - it just is louder than the stock which has the rubber gasket in the center. - AD
Are you saying the C6 shifter will work in a C5 without any mods ? If so what's the price of the C6 shifter ?
Thanks,
DFA
Yes and it simply bolts on in place of the stock C5 shifter. Hardest part of the installation is removing the demon pin from the stock shifter...but you have to do that anyway.
Do a search for Patches' post on C6 Shifter installation...it is very detailed. Check with Forum vendors Fred Beans or Fichtner Chevy for the best deal on the shifter package. You don't get a new shift boot with the package...but most of us have modified the stock boot to fit...or you can order an aftermarket one.

Here's a pic of mine:
Great shifter! I noticed in your picture that there is a "rubber band" towards the console....any idea what this is for? I recently put in a B&M Ripper and found the rubber band and thought it was there by mistake I removed it, not thinking it could have actually been placed on purpose ?? Thanks!
