plug or patch my tire?
i've got a screw embeded in my right rear. Its holding air fine but i cant decided whether or not to repair the tire by plugging it or patching it. which is better if im gonna be takin to the track and dont wanna have to worry about the tire failing?
I think the approved repair by Goodyear is to plug and patch it. For daily driving this would be fine. If I was tracking the tire I think I too would replace it.
Patching is what I would do. Keep an eye one it to check for leaks. I don't think you need to be concerned about rapid loss of air pressure but if you are doing more than drag racing I would replace.
I had a rear patched, just watch how they do it. The shop scraped and scraped a huge area around the hole, then spread on the galvonizer and put a really big patch on, and rolled it in really hard. I was very comfortable after watching what they did. Cost about $20 bucks afterward though, but it was worth a great job w/no damage to the rim.
