Default C5 too big?

I've heard many times how "big" the C5 is, and how they made the C6 smaller for that reason. What is your opinion/ do you really think it's a big car? Mine is parked next to our '68 Camaro which is, in my mind, a "small" car; yet the Vette is about 6" shorter than the little Camaro!
Maybe it's an optical delusion!

I've an '04 C5.... it's been perfect for trips, putting suitcases, cases of wine, golf clubs.. etc. The C6, which I'm finally getting to like... is smaller. I like the bigger.... I can afford the new one... I just like the C5 better....

Hi Rated X -

Well - they are big fun , and big on style, and have big performance.....

but they aren't what I consider big size-wize......

Whenever a soccer-mom passes me in a behmoth SUV, and all I see is wheels and lugnuts passing me, I am not thinking about how big my little vette is....heck, Tempo's look down into the things!

best regards -

I think its neither too big nor too small. Its a 2-seat sports car, properly
proportioned and balanced to merit that title. Its not an Enzo, but it does
a Fine job for what it is (IMO)!!

Here is the deal on how the C6 is shorter. They trimmed down the length of the butt, look at the back from the side and you'll see how less wide it is.Inside they made the door panels thicker, making it less wider inside. IMHO

Well think about it in terms of the other cars of similar layout...i mean yes it is big compared to a C4 or an old stingray or something...but compared to a viper? Longer i suppose but i think the vipers are even wider if i recall correctly. Or how about something like a F360...those cars feel WIDE...I think its remarkable that the C5 can be the size it is, carry all that it does, while still feeling light nimble and FAST!

if you've ever sat in a c3, you'll appreciate what the word "big" means when applied to a c4 or a c5. when we were looking for our 1st vette several years ago @ carlisle, we sat in a # of c3s & thought "wow, that's a little tight". got into & bought a torch red c4 coupe. current ride is a sebring silver c5----quite roomy. bub

It may be that what you've heard is the C5 has a big butt. Sad, but true.

I always have friends comment on how wide and long my car is. But its always when our cars are parked next to eachother. Then I point out that my roof only comes up to the bottom of thier windows. If a vette were twice as tall you'd never think twice about its width or length.

I have found that when driving my car, the faster I go the smaller it feels, however,I am fairly certain that the dimensions don't change.I have read posts prior to this where people say similar that they feel the same way.It isn't just my C5 .

I think the size is perfect. That was one of the reasons I sold the 1999 coupe to buy the 2004 coupe. The new C6 was smaller, and after going from a C4 to the C5, I didn't want a smaller car.

The first Vette I ever sat in the drivers seat with the intention of driving was my neighbor's Polo Green '95 coupe. Pretty as it was, it as as uncomfortable as could be, with my height and big feet, I had to pull my left leg back to get my right foot to the pedals, which felt forced to the left a bit. I had to drive pigeon-toed. Plus, with the roof on, my head hit the ceiling constantly, even with the seats all the way down and back.
He was trying to convince me to buy a Vette, and though it was a fun drive, I couldn't spend the money on something so friggin uncomfortable. Then he told me about the C5 moving the transmission from the front to the rear of the car, opening up ample leg room. Turns out he was absolutely right, and the interior space in the car is phenomenal.

I found the C6 interior very nice and supple, but a bit confined for my size. Now, I ain't a 'big guy' by any means, but I do have long arms and legs, so finding a comfortable driving position is a challenge for me. My '01 coupe is PERFECT for me.

Too big? Only if you're a li'l guy!
