Default Glass Vs. Removable

Any thoughts on the removable tops vs. the conv.??
A friend has the conv....says the glass is too heavy to take on and off frequently anyway??

The glass top is really quite light - much more so than the C4 top. It really comes down to a personal preference - do you like a full open air feeling or a partial one. What swayed me was the extra room that the coupe offers for carrying things.

This is only true if you can't bench press 50 lbs at the gym. Seriously, the translucent top is very light and lets in enough daylight to make the interior bright and airy during days and evenings when you wouldn't want the top off. Another advantage is its sound reflecting properties - the stereo sounds a bit better in a coupe compared to a vert with top-up.
In the end, you'll find that those who have verts, love em and those who have coupes, love em.

Only if you are a huge pu**y. O.K., seriously, ....it doesn't weight that much. I can take it off or put it on in less than 30 seconds. A vert is probably best for extended "top off" cruising because the coupe gets a bit windy.

I weigh 114 pounds and I can remove and replace my coupe top without any help at all. It is very light. Don't let the weight of it determine which to get.

It is not glass, it is Lexan plastic and not that heavy, so if that is what you want I would not let that deter you.

I have both and use them both.

In the summer I have the top off as often as possible, but when it gets OMG hot or I'm going to be in stop and go traffic the painted one goes on and the AC gets turned on. Sitting in traffic makes the heat come up from the tunnel and the AC is needed then.

Don't want the translucent in the summer sunshine because it's dark in color and absorbs heat. Makes the interior hotter.

In the cooler months I want the translucent on for just that reason, it makes the car warmer if the sun is out but there is a chill in the air. The translucent roof lets in more light, which also makes the car seem airy. Great during those months where it can get a lil dreary looking outside.

i'm 5.8 and 155 or 160. I can remove or plce either roof on with no problems at all. They don't weigh much.

I have a removable top as well, it is light, I just recently acquired the lexan top and it's been on my car since. I still have the painted top, but it is kept in my basement. don't want to sell it but don't know what to do with it as well.

If your friend thinks the top is too heavy, she probably is so weak and confused that she shouldn't be relied on for advise.

By the way, Coupes and hardtops far outsell verts, with Coupes ruling the roost as far as sales are concerned.

Gee, why don't you post that statement in the Z06 section? FYI: The new 2006 Z06 is NOT a vert, yet it is more of a "sports car" than any American vert from the factory.

Besides, verts are generally not allowed on racetracks unless a rollbar is installed. The C5R comes to mind as one of the most celebrated winner in recent times. Is it a vert?
