I wonder if Sals 98 Vette who started this post ever got his dilemma answered. I'm pretty sure that what that person asked has nothing to do with oil? I'm fairly sure the message would have said "change oil soon" or something to that effect. I fear they may have something a little more serious.
By the way, I am wondering what I'm doing wrong about the oil changes. I can never get 6.5 quarts in????? I raise the rear end up too. I fill the oil filter first too???? So how some of you get more than 6.5 in bewilders me.

Until I read that I thought I was putting only 6.5 in.

These are the two AMSOIL oils that meet the GM Standards for the C5 that I recommend:
AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30
AMSOIL SAE Synthetic 5w30
The AMSOIL SDF Filter part number for the C5/Z06 is SDF32.

sal, was it the check engine symbol? if so a flashing symbol means a misfire condition, a steady light means a potential issue with the emmission system. recently changed a relay on my 98, light came on steady.

Sal...service engine soon doesn't mean change or add oil
