A/c

I had my wife's 2004 Grand Prix serviced today. One item that was replaced were the A/C filters....the filters that pick up the dust and pollen from entering the inside of the car. Does the Z06 have these types of filters? I have a 2003 Z06 and there is no mention of the filters in the owner's manual, nor was there in the Pontiac owner's manual. I've had a 15K service and no mention of these filters were made....do we have filters?

I wish they did, mine has a nasty smell that comes out of the vents for the first 20-30 seconds after the car has set for a few hours. I am about to take it in since it is still under warranty.

The dealer told me that this is a typical problem. An A/C filter will not help. GM makes a product called Odor Eliminator that you spray in your air intake...after using it a few times, I have no odor at all, for now. The dealer gave me a bottle so I don't know how much it costs....I would think about $8 to $10. It seems strange that GM has a product to "fix" the problem....maybe they could have engineered the A/C better...none of my other cars ever had a stinky A/C. I was told that the stinky smell has to do with moisture that builds up and is not being removed and has to do with making an A/C system that costs less to make.
