If you own a laptop..or a computer you can move to the garage, and love to tinker with you car. I would HIGHLY recomend purchasing a tuning program, such as Ls1 edit, or the easier to use HP Tuners.

Thsese programs are much more capable, but as a beginer you can still do the little easy things. There's plenty of documentation online on how to tune your car, and as you gain experience and and confidence you'll begin playing with more and more tables.

HP tuners is less than twice the price of Hypertech. However you can use it on two different year vehiclces, for ALL vehicles of those two model years, such as unlimited number of 1999 and 2000 vettes.

HP tuners is probably the best bang for the buck.

Considering you should be able to re-sell your hypertech for around that amount, if all you want is fans and shift points, i would say that would be a fine buy. just becarefully to ensure they fully unloaded the unit before you purchase it. They lock to a single VIN and there's nothing you can do about it if they don't unload the program. I bought my hypertech for ~250 i think, don't really remember, and sold it for 125 shipped.

100 is a good buy. I will try to remember what all it does. I used one on an 03 coupe A4.
Hypertech III

Performance tune
shift points
change rev limiter to max of 6600
Change top speed limiter
gear ratio scaling for stock rear ends
change tire sizes (diameter for Speedo)
lower fan setting for 160 and 180 thermostat
change shift firmness, 25-50-75-100%

Like posted above make sure the seller sets it back to stock settings or you will have a paper weight. I think it gave me between 1-2 tenths and 1-2 mph trap speed increase in the qtr mile.

Hypertech scrambled my pcm on my 98 z28 twice. I went with superchips on my vette.

You're not exactly a slacker when it comes to providing good, solid information either
