Here in California, Cal Trans, an organization known and revered for it's brilliance, is doing it differently...

The theory behind them is that the noise they make alerts the deer but to make noise air has to go through them. How many have you seen that are mounted in an area on the front bumper where there is virtually no air flow through them due to the shape of the bumper or they are mounted in a high pressure area with little air flow.
