Ah yes, the "burned valve" theory. the king of urban legends.
Warranty is the curse of every manufacturer. So much so that they keep their warranty costs a heavily guarded secret. It adversely affects the bottom line.
So how do they counter it? First off they try to better their quality.
If that doesn't work they try to deny as much coverage as possible.
That'll keep the warranty cost down. And the customers away.

The supervisor tells the dealership he wants to talk to me before he authorizes repairs. So I call the guy and first thing he tells me he has been "researching" the cold air induction system and the information he read says to remove the PCM and send it in to be reprogramed...did I do that? I say "no" he says "Are you sure?" I say yes so he lets that go.
Shame on you. Well you were telling the truth if you didn't pull it out and send it off for the edit most don't

Exactly it was done on the dyno at speedinc. He also didnt flat out ask if I take it to the strip he just asked why I have the tires!!
I think what they were really trying to find out was whether or not you participate in drag races. If so, they would not have authorized the repairs to the tranny because anything damaged due to drag racing is not covered. At least that is what I have been told.
I thibnk we all understand what they were looking for, the question is, did they have right to do it?

Sounds like the GMPP rep was trying his best to get out of authorizing the repair. Hope you get it all repaired and find a better representative if you ever need any more warranty work done.
The question is "Did they have a right to?" And the answer to that appears to be "no".
I don't have an extended warranty, so I don't know for sure. However, I would bet they have the right to "inspect" your vehicle before authorizing repairs as part of the contract one has to sign to enrol in the warranty program. After all, they gotta make sure you didn't trash your tranny with NOS.
