Feeling Bummed
Down in the dumps! I have owned my C5 for six weeks(99 triple black vert loaded), driven her three times! Yes had her for a week and put her in the bump shop to reshoot hood and nose for chips! She turned out great, then put her on jackstands for two weeks and detailed all wheel wells and all jams! At last gave her a bath and took her out for her first cruise. Five miles from home I am rear ended at a traffic light. She is back in the bump shop for the last two weeks and after talking to them she will be there an additional three more weeks!!! I keep thinking about it, my new toy and by the time I get her back she will be going into storage. No mods for me, bummer!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear it. Here's a cheap project that might help you make something good out of this.: This year at Carlisle I bought a rear C5 bumper that had some minor damage. ($10 ) Today I cut it to make it sit flat against the wall. Tomorrow I'll cut a piece of plywood to help hold it's shape. Next week I'll paint it to match my car, then install the taillights that I bought in the C5 parts for sale section here. Hope this helps a little bit, Tom

Tom, I am one step ahead of you! I already told them to save me the rear facia for the same project!!!! I dont have any tail lights yet, but I am hoping to run across some cheap! Any Ideas how you are wiring it yet? I kinda like the glow of a black light or a puple neon comming from the outside edges! One member has an Avatar with one in it, looks awsome! I am still bummed, spending alot of time dreaming about rims! I still have the Wagon wheels on mine!

Not a good start to Vette ownership for you. Hope you get it back soon and can at least get some driving in before storage.

Wow!, I am glad you are allwright! She looks bad, but have no fear the bump shop manager told me the vette is one of the best built cars for accidents! I am glad mine is a MN6, if it was a automatic the damage would have been horrible becouse my foot would have been on the brake not the clutch. Thats why my car was pushed so far becouse it rolled with the rear impact!!!!! Maybe you can talk the bump shop manager into some mods! Mine is putting on a Corsa exhaust instead of the stock one!!!!!

I've been there and I share both your pain and frustration...
All I can say it feels good when you have her back . The permasmile quickly erases both the pain and frustration leaving only the memory and a story to tell.....
Hope the work turns out to your satisfaction

I don't know if you guys believe in superstition. I had a 96 Sentra that I bought knew, was parking it coming home from the dealer and what happens, back up too much that I hit the front plates of the car behind me and scratch my bumper. 2 days of owning it, door got scratch at work , 2 years of owning it- my wife backs-up on another car and rips off the side view mirror of the other car and cracks my taillamps. 4 years of owning, got my first major accident on the car. Rear bumper falls off from the accident.6 months after that, the whole driver side was damaged from another accident ( mostly paint job) 7 years of owning the car, my wife finally totals it. What I'm saying is, although the car somehow protected us in all of the mishaps, it's just accident prone, no matter which one of us is driving. I have other cars we drive and not have any accident at all.
