Default DiabloSport Predator?

Will I get much benefit from a DiabloSport Predator for my 04' Vert MN6.
I plan on installing a Blackwing and LT headers in the future.
Thanks in advance for your help.

With headers, I would get a dyno tune, for the same price, in some cases, cheaper.

IMHO

You will get lots of different answers here! If you have an auto then YES. You can change when and how hard it will shift and remove Torque Management to just name a few. If you have M6 then MAYBE. I chose my predator due to the fact that I have an auto and I like to do ALL my own mods. It also allows me to do several other things to my vette (change fan temp settings, adjust A/F and timing, scan, etc). Plus I could not find any tuners in my area and if I could its near impossible to find time to get to them (self employed and very busy). If you can find a reputable tuner and have an M6 and don’t like to do your own mods then FIND A TUNER. If you like to do your own mods and have an AUTO - look to see if you can find a tuner and see how much. Then make your decision.

I bought mine on sale (369.99) so I thought it was worth it. I only had mine for a couple of weeks so I am still tweaking it. I will let you know in a few weeks what the outcome is.

Good luck.

Default Predator gear change programing?

I have a 1999 A4 and am planning to change to 3.42 rear gears, will the predator reprogram the trans shift points and speedo calibration? The manual I downloaded said this was NA to corvettes but to see addendum?

I sold mine because I can only get 91 octane gas here in Vegas and with the performance tune, it is required to run 93 octane. Otherwise you will need to pull out tuning and richen up fuel to avoid detonation.

I did notice a SOTP gain in power though when I ran the Predator with 100 octane mixed with 91, when I ran straight 91 with the timing retarded and fuel richened up, it felt like stock.

Keep that in mind.

I have had a Predator for over two years and the answer to your question really depends on what you do with the car. A Predator has a generic performance tune. I bought it before I heard about LS1 edit, which allows you to vary air/fuel ratios for each cell (50 or 500 RPM I think) so there are no flat spots in the power curve. Most hand held tuners like these allow you the freedom to vary parameters without going to someone. I have Z06 size tires on my MN6 Vert and I entered the new size in the Predator, I have a 160 degree thermostat and lowered the fan settings. It got rid of CAGS and Torque Management.

I have recently been thinking about getting a tuner to do a tune specifically for my car. This includes him hooking up a laptop and recording data while we drive around for 30 minutes. Then he takes the data and creates a tune for my car. The thing that is holding me back is the fact that I won't have the tool to restore the stock tune if I have to go to the dealer, or if I go to the track, or the weather gets colder, I can't change the fan settings without making an appointment and going in and having him do it.

I have heard that with LT headers you need a specific tune, the generig performance tune in the Predator isn't good enough.

1. There is no speedo error on the C5 when changing real axle ratios. Period - end of story. That's why the manual stated that.

2. The model Predator you have (1999 thru 2003 exclusive) has a gear scaling bug - that if not corrected - your A4 will eventually throw the P1870 error code. Diablosport will update yours at no charge (but I think you will need to send it back to them to have this update done).

3. Yes, the Predator allows you to select where/when the tranny shifts @ WOT. Plus, it will disable Torque Management
