Default MTI C2 cam question

I purchased and installed this cam some time ago and have been very happy with the performance gains. I recently purchased a set of LS6 heads and am having them machined by a local engine builder. He asked me for my cam specs to which I promply replied with 224/224 .581/.581 112 LSA which is advertised on MTI's website. The problem lies here, on the Lunati cam card that was included with the camshaft it says the cam only has .576 of lift on both intake and exhaust. Am I reading the card wrong or is MTI advertising more lift than the cam actually has? The cam card does indicate a 1.7 rocker ratio. I'm just confused why the difference in lift numbers. Can anyone explain this to me?

Those 224 specs with 581 lift look to me like a Compcams XE-R grind. The Lunati is not ground by Comp. MTI might have changed companies grinding their cams, so therefore the new ones may be close... but not exactly the same. Different cam manufacturers lobes can be close.. but wont be exactly the same...

This is what I woudl say... but you can call MTI to make sure..

MTI has proven to be dis-honest before. So either way wouldn't surprise me.

Ok, I called MTI yesterday and it turns out I got an "old" C2 cam and it does in fact have the .576/.576 lift on it. I generally got the "What do you want me to do?" question and it turned out that what I got is what I got and that's it. They said cams sometimes come in with different specs and there was nothing they could do about it.

In the future... I think I'll take my business elsewhere. I wish I would have checked this before I put the cam in the car instead of just trusting that what I got was what I ordered. Now that I think about it, the cam did have "C2" marked on it so it should have been as their web site advertised.

Can anyone tell me what the real difference is performance wise of a cam this is 224/224 .576/.576 112LSA and 224/224 .581/.581 112LSA?

Performancewise... not much of a diff, if any.... the lift is nearly the same. Duration and LSA are equal. Looks like it's what I thought. They changed cam grinders from Lunati to Comp. I think they should have changed the number or made the new one version 2 or something. But it's pretty much the same cam.

I upgraded from .578 to .595 and it's pretty apparent there's a difference there....I have a feeling there is a reason they upped the lift.

It's the change of manufacturers. Not sure on the ramps on the Lunati...vs comp. "If" the lift is just the diff .005 then it's negligable..

Chris the reason you felt the change is the Comp cam you had was not an XE-R... and the new one is... They have more agressive lobe patterns. Bigger lobe. Therefore more power..
