Looks like this is pretty cheep horsepower, can anyone confirm the 40+ horse they claim? Also any recomendation on the best place to get one? Thanks in advance for the input
I hear good things as well. I went to the track last week and asked a fellow vette owner about it and told me its a good system but the filter wasnt so good.
I have always been a big VR supporter.Just remember almost all of them work well. Quite a while ago some of my fellow C5 friends and I went to the strip. We used my car and started with the VR, made 2 passes and then took VR off and went down the list of 5 other manufactures(did VR first cuz PITA to put in) anyhow the VR unit in real world conditions consistenly made 2/10 - 4/10 better ET than any other. The only difference with my VR is that the weep holes for water dissapation have been sealed. I agree about the filter, K&N will take care of that. I HAVE NEVER BEEN A "NAME BRAND" GUY, I USE WHAT WORKS (hopefully it won't say Dollar General on it though)
I have just come in from the garage.I installed the vararam that i received today.I must say it is simply the cheapest, most overpriced for the quality, intake ive ever seen.It isnt sealed in any way,and anyone who thinks this thing could ever create ANY pressure in the intake is on crack.
I do not have my headers installed yet as they get here tomorrow so i cant drive it until then .If it performs well then my hat is off to vararam for making power from a very cheaply constructed piece of plastic.
I would never buy this intake if you are concerned about a quality built and looking product. Again if it does some good, ill eat my words. You know what ,no i won't. Regardless of if it produced 40 h.p. it claims ,i'm still very let down at the quality.
Thanks for the input, it's disappointing to hear about the quality of the product, I don't know how much of it is visiable? I thought it was tucked inside the nose pretty well? regardless I appreciate the info. Anyone else? Also looks like these run in price anywhere from 325-375 plus shipping, sound right?

I gained 3 tenths of a second in the quarter and about 4 tenths in my 0-60 time as measured with my G tech pro. I believe for every 10 horsepower you gain a tenth in the quarter. That would put it at about 30 horsepower. You can feel a big difference. Awesome mod for sure.

Are you sure you are looking at a Vararam? The Vararam I have is of high quality and provides a tight seal all the way around. It is better looking than everything that I saw on the market except the Honker. One of the reasons I bought it is because it looks like stock. I measured the results on my G-tech Pro and it peformed as advertised. Take another look.

You won't be dissapointed. The mod is well worth it. There are a lot of folks in this forum that do not like the V ram. Probably because they never owned one. there are also a lot of members who have installed the V-ram and think its great like me. When I hear someone down the V-ram I become suspicious about their claims of ownership. the quality is very good. It is rugged, allows easy access to the filter and provides a tight seal. You will see for yourself when you receive it. Oh, and the filter that comes with it is well made but can be changed out and a K&N added if you feel uncomfortable with it.

Am i sure its a vararam? Are you seriously asking me that?
I guess some people have a higher standard of quality.
And what would i have to gain by making this up? You said you doubt some people even own it who knock it.

I too gained about .4 secs in 0-60 times (freeway onramps)
While it seems flimsy when you take it our of the box, once installed it looks fine and performs better.
The SOTP feeling is great over 60 mph. Better response.
I also gained a bit of gas milage after installing it and letting my car tune itself.
Thanks for all the input, I appreciate the feelings from both sides, (fit and finish & performance) I guess the main reason for doing something like this is about performance and 30-40 hp for 300 bucks is cheap hp, especially when you don't have to add a bunch of labor cost on top of that. Anyone have a suggestion on where to get one of these? I see that there are a lot of vendors that sell it, but is there someone from the forum that has the best deal or that needs the support? Thanks again for all the input.

Most vendors on here sell them for around 305 - 325 shipped.
And you will not get 40 h.p from this intake.
I picked mine up from East Coast Corvettes and was very happy with the price and service from Todd Wiley 866-692-6838. He gives discounts to forum members.
Just finished installing my Vararam a few days ago and can make these observations:
1. It does seem to improve performance, at least in throttle responce.
2. Installation instructions are terrible.
3. It is flimsey, the quality should be a lot better for $305.
4. It looks just fine under the hood and does open things up a little.
5. Haven't attempted to change or clean filter yet buy it has got to be a lot more difficult than doing the stock filter. While I'm at it. The filter itself is also pretty poor quality for the price.
6. This would be an outstanding upgrade for about $100-$150. As it is it may or may not be worth it depending on the kind of performance increase you're looking for.
7. There is some satisfaction with having it that goes beyond reason! This is true of many of the mods we do.
8. Don't forget let it down and remove the jack stands before you back out of the garage!

Not trying to start something, but I damn sure wouldn't use a G-Tech as a real "test" of power..
I personally dont like the fact that you spend $300+ dollars and keep the stock airbridge and crappy stock flexible coupler.. With that said, I have a Halltech Stinger and it's great... except that I have open foglight cold air screens and my motor gets covered in road dirt. So, I am going to eventually get a Vararam and use it in conjunction with my Halltech Stinger. Basically taking off the Halltech filter and using the Vararam on the end.. This way I wont be throwing dirt all over the engine bay.
