These babies really live up to their name on my car as they seem to attract every loose rock on the road. Does everyone encounter these hits and nicks or does Oklahoma just have bad roads?
Exactly what my son told me. I thought about it and agreed. Cheaper to get the panels pained every year or two but drive the hell out of it.
Yeah, if cheaper is $1200.00. Mine kicked up a little boulder and it caused a large scratch. I tried to live with it. For about 10 minutes. Went to the shop where it became good as new for about $600.00. No serious body-work involved. Doing both sides? $1200.00. Driving a pristine Y2KNBMMN6CPE? Priceless!!!
Misery enjoys company. I often use this forum to nurture my tormented soul when something happens to the car. I mentally register everything on my car between cleanings and so the smallest imperfection is magnified many times when I locate them. It is somewhat calming to me to know that others fight the same demons. My paint and body man had the best comment " we all want to keep them perfect but it is not going to happen".

Two answers. Yes, everyone takes these hits and having grown up in Oklahoma, YES, it does have bad roads. You might consider some splash guards from Mid-America Motorworks ($39.95) to alleviate some of the damage. They particularly help on the rear panel and don't look too bad. They aren't perfect protection, but every little bit helps.

Take a look at the 3M paint protector. I am doing my 04 in the spring when it comes out of storage. Most Vette owers here do not drive them in the winter.
If you want complain about roads, come up to Winnipeg, Canada where the freeze and thaw cycles and frost causes deterioration of the concrete joints in winter. In the summer, the very hot days that we get buckles the joints. The repairs are so expensive, our City of 700,000 is, yes, I'm not kidding, 200 years behind on sidewalk renewal. Give me an Interstate anywhere in the US and I'm happy.
Don't look under the Vette, yeah right Mine is black and at night I cant see the the pesky devils. I kinda did a home repair!filled, primed, painted and clear coated. I don't recommend this for the faint of heart and it looks ok at night. Enjoy the ride and know that chip(s) happen.
