Thanks. That's what I am hoping to get. I am still young and there are quite a few things I have not experienced yet, but I'm sure there are a lot of Vette owners that have gone through this and can give me some direction.

If you have to order the parts through them, I would bet you are going to be paying more than you would normally have to. Check out a catalog like Mid American Motorsports or Ecklers. Then compare those prices to the "sponsors" prices. See what kind of deal you will actually be getting.

Also what happens after 10 months and they do not want to sponsor your car? Do you have to reimberse them the 55% they gave you?

That's exactly why I wanted to find out who the vendors were before I agreed. I will check the prices and compare before I make any commitments. If they are more expensive then I will definately pass on this "sponsorship"

No. They will get no reimbursement. The "contract" states that if you do not keep up your part of the agreement, then you will not be eligible for another term. There are no other consequences.

I actually thought (if this is a good deal), I would buy more mods in this next year than I originally planned on, so that way I could really try to earn that "full sponsorship". Then once the 10 month mark comes ( if I get the full sponsorship) then it will be Wide body kit time, New blown motor time and a lot of other work that is a little more costly.

I just got back in town last night.........

My debt has nothing to do with my sponsorships. I earned all my sponsors and they have been great to me over time. Without them and the great forum vendors my car would not be what it is.

I am kinda done with a lot of the imature comments of a lot of members on this forum. Why I dont post anymore.

Sponsorship programs are total BS. If you want sponsors work for them.
True Sponsors do everything i.e. product, money, or service. Each company is different. If you write your own "LOA" letter of agreement it gives you more power to say what and where and when. You also need a proposal and a portfolio of your car. If you dont have a sponsor get what you can and work your way up. But, they dont sponsor dreams. You HAVE to have mods done to your car. Do your homework on what the companies are looking for and what you want products they offer that you like.

Jon Pine

PS, my car is for sell on ebay now. Time to move on.

Jon,

I apologize if you took offense to any of the earlier comments, but I don't believe that they were intended to be disrespectful. I think that they were made in jest, at least I know that mine were and I want to assume that the others were too.
I appreciate any and all input on this subject, especially when it is from someone like yourself who has " been there, done that". Any advice that you offer I am greatful for. What would your reccomendation be for me in this situation?

Thanks,
Chris

As I said before you get what you work for.

This is what I found out.

Copy from a site I read about it.
I found some disturbing info on here about SCP....which I was going through the same thing...paid $88 and nothing..no contract/sponsorship package. So yesterday I call SCP pro and let them no about my previous project car and that I've been sponsored by many large manufacture in the past and have proof. After proving how I can impact SCP in a negative way, I let them know that I'm 33 years of age and will sue SCP if they do not clear up the people they took money from. But need I remind SCP sponsorship is not free parts. It is discount parts so you can afford to mod your car. If you are one of these people WHO PAID $88 and got nothing CONTACT "TY" at SCP marketing dept. tell him you would like your SCP sponsorship package, and that Kyle Gilbert <--me..Is seeing that your package is fullfilled. SCP #1-888-333-7621. I hope that I've have helped anyone on here about SCP.

Sure this will help you.

Default I dont know!

The problem is that if you have to pay for 45% of the 15000.00 ant retail price, you might end up getting shafted!

If I'm reading it correctly, they're offering you a 55% discount for putting their decals on your car. What's the catch?

My gut instinct tells me that their "discounted" prices will be more than other vendors' regular prices.

EDIT: If there's any type of upfront fee involved, run very far away.

Jon had it right on the money with his last post. I haven't paid anything yet or signed anything, but after all of the info I have received on here I think that I will reconsider and probably not do this.

Thanks you guys

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, jon. If this SCP "sponsorship" worked like it is supposed to , then would it be worth it? Or should I still stay away?

Honestly, IMO its not worth it at all. Paying someone to get you sponsors isnt right. I could have done that myself teaching people how to get sponsors and make money off them. I am not going to do that.

If you want real sponsors (which is awesome and rewarding) do it the old fahsioned way. Put all your shows together show them how you will make them money. Have all your ducks in a row. Find the company with the products you like and would like to show off. Then find out who to talk to, present them with a proposal and portfolio.

Start off with smaller companies dont go after the big ones right away. I had 100s of turn downs and learned the right and wrong way to do it. Write your own LOA though if the company allows you to, so you can say when and where.

It can be fun but dont get to serious cause its still a hobby, once it becomes a business it WILL take the fun out of it.

Thank you for all of the helpful advice I think I will pass on this "sponsorship"

Come to think of it 45% of $15,000 out of pocket expenses is $6,750. Well, seeing as some how people spend that much money on mods anyway. I'd say go for it. . If there was somebody in Illinois who would do that. I'll do it.

Sorry, I did not see that there was a second page already. I'd say listen to Jon, he has the experience regarding sponsors.
