My experience has been that difference between the major companies (Exxon, Shell, BP, etc.) isn't as much the issue as how old of tanks the gas station has. In other words... new station = new tanks= less junk in the tanks/cleaner gas = beater gas mileage/smoother running engine.
Also, it may be different for MN6's, but I had very different experience when I ran on lower octane fuel. I didn't check the gas mileage, but the engine did not have the power/edge that it does running 93 octane.
Finally, I have sort of rhetorical question about gas prices/running on lower octane to save money. I know gas prices are high, but if 89 octane is $3.00 and 93 is $3.20 and you fill up at 15 gallons... that's $45.00 versus $48.00. So, what's the big deal bout saving $3.00 whole dollars each time. (for me I fill up three times a month... so, we talking $108 a year... I think I can hack it.)

Until recently I've had great results from Shell. But the last few tanks I've tried both Shell and BP and have had more sending unit issues and at least a perceived decrease in performance. I don't know if they've done something to the formulation as a result of the 'fuel crisis' issues or not, but it looks like somethings up. Zuti
Well given the gas issue and people who will take advantage of almost any situation, I wouldn't be surprised to find "watered" products here and there.

ALL gas is the same when it goes thru the pipeline from the refinery. Each company puts it's own additives in at it's local plant. Texaco and Shell have different local plants and do not have the same additives.
Been using Shell V Power since December when I got my car. Haven't had any problems. Might try BP just for the heck of it, but the only way I'd ever know if it got better mpg is on a trip. Can't keep my foot out of it enough around town to get an accurate reading.
