Default Dealer damage

I took my car into the dealer for the steering column recall. While doing the recall fix they broke the bottom plastic molding that runs along the bottom of the seat. Of course they never noticed it I found it as soon as I opened the door to get in. They also mounted my new tires on my new Z06 chrome wheels. In doing this they took a chunk out of my original wheels. They were very sorry and will order the seat part and will order a new wheel to replace the one they damaged.
What don't the dealers understand ? Yes, I'm happy they will fix the damage they caused. But it should never happened in the first place. They looked at me like they just give me a super deal !!! The service manager said he hopes I will still bring my car back for future service I asked him if he went to a dentist for a routine cleaning and during the process the dentist broke one of your front teeth and said it was unfortunate but that he would fix it in a couple of days, would you smile and feel good about it ?
Thanks, that felt good, I just had to vent alittle

At least they took responsibility after you brought it to their attention. That's better than many dealers would have done.

....Don't absuse your ride by ever going back to that dealer again. Find a shop with a well known reputation and mechanics with corvette experience. Local clubs know all the good shops....Good luck.....

Doesn't it make it right, but it could have been worse.

You are right it should have never happened, but looks like they are trying to make it right. They should have been much more apologetic and offered some free work or something to make you feel better about the situation. Makes you wonder when these damage events keep happening.

I agree it was good they admitted they even did it. Most dealers don't treat corvettes any different than a Geo. The gentleman I bought my car from would make the service mgr go over the entire car with him before he left it with them, just in case their was a new scratch or something when he got back. I wouldn't take my car to a dealer unless it was a have to case.

I agree - most of the dealers are running around like this guy.....

But the one and only time I took my Vette into the dealer to have my VE steering wheel installed. My service writer, with whom I've had previous dealings, treated my car as if it was the single most important car she ever saw. She very carefully covered my new VE interior with two plastic sheets, and told me she was going to have the Trim Shop Foreman come get the car instead of having the lot Monkey move it.

When the car was ready - she called me. And then, she kept it parked in an unused service bay so it wouldn't sit out all morning until I came to pick it up.

So not all dealers/service departments are bad. There are a couple of good ones.....

Its awesome the dealer admitted the fault and told you they would make good on it! But before I'd get to feeling too good about things - I'd say your only half way there.

Saying we are ordering the new parts and actually doing it are two different things. Don't mean to be a cynic - well, yes I do, been burned too many times.

Wow, don't get me started on this subject. But, here is a brief scenario: my C5 had been displaying the famous and well known erratic fuel gauge symptoms. And, unfortunately, had to be towed to a local dealer at closing time. As we discovered later, this particular Chevy dealer had never even heard of the Corvette C5 TSB's on this problem.

The car was left over night. However, one of their lot valets had left the driverside window down. Moisture got into the interior (it was late fall, early winter) and soaked the leather sport seats. I could not believe that they would leave the car outside (although on the premises near the service bays). Their only excuse was that all their service bays were full. When we tried to roll the window back up, it would not budge: the imbeciles let my o.e. battery die!

Moreover, while their techs were shuffling cars around to clear more room, they accidentally bumped my car and scuffed and damaged the paint on the front bumper. Let me tell you that I was not happy. And, even more so when they did not want to own up to the front bumper damage. Needless to say, that I refused service there, and, never returned. And, I do not ever recommend this dealer.
