Last year, I took some of the money I had saved up in stocks and decided to put it towards a C5 down payment. On a whim, I decided to look at this '99 Pewter FRC at a dealership. It was priced at $22,000. When I got there, I saw that it had a severely cracked windshield, a huge amp bolted behind the seats, a hole through the driver's mirror, and a flip-out DVD in the dash. I quickly got the impression this was an abused toy for someone. And, I feared the wiring was screwed after seeing the amp and stereo set-up. Just hunches, but enough to make me leary. Also, the driver's seat had a good tear in it. To be happy with the car, i'd have had to spend some serious cash that I didn't have.
As I turned around to leave, I saw a white Vette parked on the lot and I inquired about it. It cost more, but less than the sum of the other Vette puls repairs. It wasn't a hardtop, but it stood out from the crowd.
Now, that car resides in my driveway. And, I'm happy with my decision.

Good luck resisting the mod bug though. So many guys do so many nice things to their cars here that eventually you give in. Good luck.
On the plus side, only three-and-a-half more years and this puppy is all mine!

You will learn a lot AND meet some great people here!
