Default Side moldings?

Just wondering how many of you have taking off the side moldings that go across the car? Not sure what they are exactly called. I guess they are there to protect your doors from being hit. Do they come off fairly easy? Do they leave marks when you do?

BSM body side moldings.I like mine but alot on the forum have taken their off it's just which you prefer to do.I am sure alot of people on the forum will put up pictures of before and after so you can see the difference between the look of them on the car and the look of having them off the car.........charlene

BSM's get a lot of posts on the Forum. Do a search and you find endless debates about keeping or removing. I like mine and kept them on.

They are (I understand) relatively easy to remove and many have had success using fishing line behind the BSM to gently and slowly remove them. Again, tons of posts.....do a search for more info.

In the final analysis, its all about what you like on your car. Good luck

Took mine off my 99 three months ago.
They come off real easy. Did not leave any marks. Saw them off with fishing line. Then claybar and wax. I like it alot better without the bsm's

You be the judge. I ripped mine off because they look like a big piece of sh*t ruining the smooth lines of the car.

Seeing this picture may inspire me to rip mine off.

Find another Vette the same color as yours without them. Make sure this is what you want to do. Some colors look better without. IMHO Torch Red looks better with them.

I think I may have been too harsh in my first post. A lot of people like them, so there are no reason to diss their preferences.

I have them and like them. It's all about what you like. If I were you I would find another C5 the same color without them. See which you like better and go with it.

They also protect your door from dings. So far I haven't had to park close enough to someone to have to worry about it, but a little insurance just in case.

If your Vette is a daily driver, they are worth keeping!

I liked mine, until I saw another white one without them. So smooth!

When I was looking for a C5, one of my preferences was a car without BSM. The C5 was originally designed without them, and they were a corporate add-on that ticked off many of the people who helped to design the C5s in the first place.

All C5s look good with or without them, though.

If I did not have BSM on my car, I would have a nice dinger in the side of my driver's door. Me, I'm glad I have them....
