I have been burning regular gas in my 04, A4, Coupe, Daily Driver for about a month now and I have seen no real difference in performance or gas mileage. Many of you told me that the computer would adjust to regular gas and it seems to have done so nicely.
My Vette is a year old now and has 32K miles on it. I have averaged about 18.5 mpg over the past year which averages out to about 1,730 gallons of gas I have burned. Regular is 20 cents less than premium so if I has been burning regular all year, I would have saved $346 in gas money. Not enough to make one car payment!

I am going to start using premium again!
Interesting when you work out the math. Halfway through your post I was thinking about switching to regular! Sticking with the premium.
Seriously, it's bad when you get excited that it drops $.30!! What I wouldn't give for $.99 again!
Gas has been dropping here a little the last week. Prem. at
Shell now is 2.81 gal which is a lot better than 3.21 that it was. Too bad prices don't drop as fast as they go up. I've come to the conclusion that Big Oil companies and Looters are two peas in a pod. Both of them take advantage of a bad situation.

Unfortunately, this is wishfull thinking. It ain't going to happen. The oil mogols have the price where they want it. They're showing record profits and plan on keeping it this way. In other words, bend over John Q. Public, so we can continue to jam you.

Amen But as for regular gas, you drive a $55,000 car why use the cheap stuff, What's 20 cents. I would like to see gas prices go down to but i'm not going to punch my baby with the cheap stuff.
Funny,i just read an article in corvette fever on some guy doing that same thing, and they said, and i agree, that the long term damage will outweigh any savings you get now.Furthermore, you did the right thing going back to premium, like the guy said up there, what's 20 cents??
One really needs to run traces with scanning software to see the difference between regular and premium fuel. Best to do it on a hot day while climbing a very tall hill @ WOT.

I get a solid 24+ on the hwy, and about 20-21 around town using premium... plus I get a little piece-of-mind using the good stuff... for an extra $3-$5 per tankful I think it's not too much to absorb when you look at the whole picture. At any rate... you could really same some $$$ by burning some of that wood or coal from the railroad... let us know how it goes !
My wife and I used to drive up to Escondido from San Diego to buy gas. In San Diego it was $.23.9/gal, in Escondido it was $.18.9. We used to save 40-45cents. That would buy 2 hambergers at a drive in. Our ride was a 56 Vette. By the way, we got a real 20 miles to the gallon in that car. I was making $2.13/hour at the gas company. So now you make $30.00/hr and gas is $3.00/gallon, same difference.
I think you would/will give about $1.50 a gallon to get 99c a gas again! 99c + $ 1.50= $2.49... Sounds about where the few oil co's that are left will leave it, unless they decide they need more cash, then its anyone's guess.
