Default Header help

Im going to get LT headers in the very near future, and........the shop thats going to install them tells me that the LG system is more emission frendly (350$ more) and that I need a tunnel heat sheild. I want to do this right the first time.....Please any comments...thanks in advance.

Headers are NOT emission friendly Why do you need a tunnel heat shield? LG makes a great product that is completely stainless steel, thats the reason for the price difference. Has nothing to do with emissions. Are you having a heat problem currently? If not there is no reason for a heat shield, LG headers dissipate the heat better than your factory set-up. I am currently running the LG's on my car.

This is what the shop told me.

( We have had some emissions problems with the high flow cats because they need to get hot to work and have trouble getting hot when the emissions guys at our air care stations let them sit before running them. The LG system seems to have a better time passing emissions but is $350 more and really requires a tunnel heat shield to keep the passenger compartment comfortable )

What do ya think.....

What do ya think..... LG's are top of the line I just don't understand his emissions and heat logic. LG places the cats further away than stock (which sometimes presents a problem in firing off the cats) That said I run without cats and have no problem in South Florida with heat. He does not need to remove the factory tunnel brace but if you feel heat will be an issue while he is doing the headers would be the right time to upgrade that as well.
