I have an 01 z06 with about 9k miles first of all. I have a head/cam/header package lined up to buy that will run me about 4800 installed including being tuned. Does anyone regret modifying their vette? It's a good deal of money, is it worth it?

The ONLY concerns I'd have regarding a heads/cam package might be driveability issues. That is, if the cam was bumpy, and/the heads passed oil, and you end up spending a lot of time and money trying to smooth things out, then you might find yourself longing for the days when the car was stock.
But that's really the only concern I'd have. Other than that, I'd recommend that you do to the car whatever you want that'll make owning it more fun and exciting to you.
It seems that too often people forgo their own enjoyment of the car by trying to keep it nice for the NEXT OWNER. I don't see the point in that. I say get that thing running and looking and sounding the way YOU want -- only then will you get the full enjoyment out of the car.
If your intnetions are to keep the car, mod it til your hearts content, if your purpose is to have it awhile then get rid of it, keeping it stock usually makes it easier to sell. I bought mine('02 Z06) and said it was fast enough, 18 months and $8500 later I am still looking for more speed and looks...Ain't it the way

Someone in this forum told me that the only regret he had about his heads/cam/headers package is that it was a lot of money and he very seldom use the power. Got me to seriously reconsider my decision for the heads/cam/headers package in favour of a less costly option like headers and cam only!! I haven't decided yet on which option to choose.
Ask yourself how much power do you want to see? and how much are you willing to pay to see it?
To me, at least, modding my cars are my personal statement...I may not do much but I make each one my own.
Short of making it a full-blown-by-God-race-car you won't have trouble selling it...
As to the "lot of money" thing...buy an airplane. I've forgiven General Motors.
Life is all a matter of degrees...
The only thing about mods is that it is a sickness. Realize it will not stop and if your a complete dumbass like me you mod cars then sell them....actually I got lucky and made money off my modded SOM WS6...I did a cam and headers setup on the Z06 in the sig and with limited tuning am at 401rwhp and it felt great for about a week. Now I'm thinking of selling it all and buying a Supercharger setup...I have friends with 550rwhp cars and they just want more....Wish I could just drive it and be happy with it
I bought the Z06 so I wouldn't have to do any mods.
After attending a couple of driving schools, I realized it was me that was lacking, not the car.
Of course for the strip you can always use more power...
For me, until I can fully take advantage of whats already there, I will leave it as is.
You also run the risk of upsetting the balance of the car... which leads to having to bring the rest of the car up to spec so its "balanced".
One mod leads to another.....
That being said... I have modded most of the cars Ive owned... Now I just enjoy driving it instead of fixing it..

Yeah, i think i'm going to just go do it. This is my one true hobby and something i will love to drive. Not that the z06 isn't fast enough already, but my goal would be to make it as quick as a new z06. I'm told with a head/cam/header/intake package, i would be able to. Any thoughts.
