After driving the BEAST for the first week I find that the shifter sits a little high for my liking, the position reminds me of a old lotus europa I had many moons ago. In the lotus the shifter **** was even with the center arm rest and was more comfortable because you did'nt have to lift your arm off the rest to shift, like I find I'm doing in the Z06. Looks like I just talked myself into my first mod
I ordered the short antenna, partition and tray so far. I am debating lowering it....and the windows MUST be tinted. Everything else is fine n dandy. I drove a car with a Ripper and will say it felt more PRECISE than the stocker. The hurst was too tight and notchy.
Thanks Jay, I just raised mine a little. The roads up north are not as smooth as those down south Love the car , shorty ant. on and cargo partition was included from Kevin.
The stock shifter does take some getting used to. It took me about a month to get used to it. I now like the stock shifter just fine. I never miss any shifts with it. The trick is to let the springs do the work and not to force it. Wait a few months before you replace the shifter and see if you still feel the same.

If you decide to try an aftermarket shifter I highly recommend the BPP unit. I didn't like the stock shifter either and I love the BPP. It is more adjustable than any other aftermarket shifter that I know of and it is a well made piece. It is a bit stiffer than the stock unit and all the aftermarket shifters will translate some minor noise into the cockpit, particularly at WOT.
If it's just the shifter height you are not liking, you can easily cut it down 1 inch. Plenty of how to's posted out there for it, it's not hard. Any more than an inch and you've got to add threads and pin slot. I did 3/4" and then a month later another 1/4". Works great and I am much happier.
I have to agree with EagleFlight. I also cut the stock shifter 3/4" and really like the improvement. I learned to shift on a 50 Ford, 3 speed on the column. Progressed thru many 4 speeds from most all manufacturers and have to say the 6 speed shifter in the "Z" is better than all of that and also much better than the aftermarket ones. Have tried Hurst and B&M but don't care for them as far as a manual shifter. Auto shifter, I will take one of the Hurst anyday. Just my $.02.
