I just ran a Carfax on a car and it has 5 owners.. but the dates on the last 3 owners are very close together. What do you think?
1st owner 03/31/2000 California
2nd owner 12/28/2002 California
3rd owner 04/27/2004 California
4th owner 12/13/2004 California
5th owner 12/23/2004 California
I don't know what to make of this.. also, the car was registered as a Fleet Vehicle (does that mean that it was a company car and was thrashes, or what?)
With that many owners that close to together, I would be very cautious about this Vette. It's difficult to second guess what the problem was, but I would take it to a qualified Vette mechanic and have it throughly check out before considering a purchase.
If the car is for sale from a dealer, then it could be a "lemon" return. There are some Vettes out there that are "lemons", sorry to say.

Well, the 2nd to last date noted that there was a lein taken out, and then 10 days later it said that there was another owner, so I am guessing that it was bought using a loan, and then the seller paid off the loan within 10 days and became the new owner. If that's not the case, then I don't know what is.
If it was bought from a dealer, it may not be that unusual. I bought my 2002 Z06 about 1.5 years ago. At the time, the Carfax showed about 3 owners in quick succession which turned out to be car dealers. I don't know why. Maybe certain dealers just don't want to handle a Corvette. The car is in perfect condition and I have not had a single problem with it since I bought it. As a matter of fact, it is the most reliable car that I have owned. I did make sure that I bought a car with some of the factory warranty left on it just in case. I never needed it.
Could be that it was a lease, they can accumulate records like that just going from the lease co. to the leasee, back to the lease co. and them to a dealer.
Good to hear, as is the rest of this thread's info. I will not let that be a big factor in determining whether or not I should buy the car.
My '97 was a 1).new lease in NJ..drove to Cali.2)turned in to dealer.3)dealer auctioned it to another 4.) dealer, dealer sold it to a 5)party, that party treaded in, 6)that dealer sold it to the party I bought it from.
I'm #7. That was 3 years ago when I bought it it had 27,000 miles on it.
Car was in great shape and the price was right $23,000.
It now has 51,000 miles on it. Very happy with it.

If it were me, I would talk to who ever has the car for sale and find out who the previous owner was. When I bought my 04 from a used car dealer he gave me the paper work that led me to the first owner. I called him and told me the car was fine but just wanted to trade up to a Z06. With that info, I purchased the car. The more info you have, the better decision you will make. If the seller is not trying to hide something, he should give all the info he has on the car.

Sounds like it might have been run through a couple of auctions. Somebody might have been trying to turn the car fast and make a quick buck.
BTW...I am going to be doing an infomercial soon on my new program teaching you how you can become a multi-millionare just like me by buying and selling used cars. All you have to do is average 20 to 30 units per month and you can soon quit your day job! Yes friend...you can be a success just like me in only 30 to 60 days. All of this for just 6 low monthly payments of only $99!
I highly doubt it was a "rental" Vette. Remember, many owners are also business owners that lease the car as a tax write off for their business. It doesn't necessarily mean that the car wasn't loved. We have a couple of those in our club and these are clean, well respected cars.
