Default Insurance?

I just got a 2002 corvette. I am having trouble getting insurance on it. I have had two wrecks in 3 years. I am only 21. Any Ideas on where to go? Last quote that I got was $425 a month.

I am in Kansas City.

Hi Silver,

Well, you will have quite a lot of insurance carrier shopping to do to compare rates. Suffice it to say that your age, gender, zip code, and, unfortunate recent driving history will weigh upon you heavily. However, despite the typically higher rates that most younger drivers are beset with, keep researching for the best deal. Lastly, have you tried Century 21?. Good luck to you in your search.

Perhaps you should consider public transportation.

I really mean no offense, so don't take it that way. What you describe IS EXACTLY WHY your rate quote is high. 21 with 3 "wrecks" under your belt. Add a Corvette to the equation and be prepared to pay the consequences.

You might just have to go to an agent and sit down while they go through the list. With your driving history and age, don't expect any bargans.

Good luck ...

Buy a POS DD. If the Vette is a "2nd Car", it should be much cheaper.

congrats on getting a vette---but good luck on getting affordable insurance. at least in pa you must have proof of insurance @ time of purchase. as the others said, shop around; however your age & bad luck are ostentibly coming due. best of luck. bub

Try going through an independent insurance agent. They can check with multiple companies and see who can give you the best rates. Being in Kansas City certainly doesn't help - you can expect high rates in the big cities.

good luck, Im 22 and i found something cheaper than everyone else. Try www.esurance.com. They gave me the cheapest rate out of everybody. but other than that our age and the car we drive is enough to give us high insurance rates. And with those acidents. Buy a beater, put the vette away and drive for 3 yrs accident free. Sorry cant tell ya any good news on this.
