high flow cats = 0rwhp without headers
160thermo = 0rwhp unless you reprogramme your fans
beru plugs = 1 or 2 rwhp
MSD wires = 2 or 3 rwhp
Tune = 10-20rwhp if you have major mods (heads/cam etc.)

So, you have just spent a LOT of money - and have very little gain for your expenditure.

A medium cam, headers and intake will bring you to 400rwhp easily, because you have a Z06, you have the higher flowing LS6 heads (higher than the LS1).

Most importantly, what is your driving style? Stop Light to stop light warrior? High speed king? Twisties? Legal Drag? Sanctioned Road race?

Your driving style is what should drive your performance mod decisions, IMHO, and not peak horsepower numbers.

There are C5s on this Forum that are making less peak HP than I am, but they could probably use me to wipe the floor. Power "under the curve" is much more important than peak numbers as is a flat, fat torque curve - unless you will be driving at WOT 24/7.

Food for thought. Good luck.

I get ZERO HP with the random tech high flow cats????? and yes of course i will reprogram the fans. This is the way i figure it out

Borla stingers.....5 rwhp
x-pipe...............2 rwhp
random t. cats....2 rwhp
halltech ssm.......10 rwhp
160 therm...........2 rwhp
beru plugs...........1 rwhp (if that)
msd wires............1 rwhp (if that)
Computer tune......20 rwhp (LS1 edit dyno tune by Bill Kelley Chevrolet)

That puts me at about 390 RWHP or close to it....adding headers should put me at my 400 mark shouldn't it???......i'd say cams would put me at about 430 rwhp....i dont understand how some people are telling me by adding long tubes to this equation i wont even break 390 rwhp!!....anybody?

where did you get 20rwhp for a tune? You're magazine tuning...If i added up all the numbers i was supposed to have from mods i should be at like 450rwhp. Looking at what the current z06's are producing 385 would be GREAT! for a bolt on Z06.

Bill Kelley Chevrolet tells me they get an average of about 25 RWHP from their dyno tune....he says he has dyno sheets to prove it!

OK alrite, now this goes out to all the gearheads who actually don't know anything. How can anyone in their right mind come to the conclusion that only 375rwhp will be the end result? You have Bill Nye the Science Guy in the posts above calculating individual gains for each mod. Come on guys, we all know the Z06 stock is doing about 350rwhp. So with all those bolt ons and the Edit it is clear that 400 will be achieved. If anyone needs to discuss this further, I will be gladly checking back on this thread to argue my point. Thanks.

It is possible to get 25 rwhp on a tune if you have h/c but you car will be pretty much stock so it will be hard. All mods are dependent on other mods. if you have h/c and a stroker motor with stock exhaust you will put out only around 390 rwhp(just example hp) then you add LT headers and exhaust you will gain 35-40 rwhp. but if you are all stock and add LT headers and exhaust you will only gain 15-20. same thing goes for the intake. If you are looking to get a faster car put some DR's on and you will get faster on the 1/4. if you are just looking at hp #'s you will not get there with out going into the motor. just my 2cents

See post #32. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...8&postcount=32

You do not just add mods up and get a figure - only when bench racing.

Without a cam, you are not getting 400rwhp - I don't care who your tuner is.

You're getting the exact same numbers that we're giving you, over in the z06 section. Do you think a different section online is going to give you a different estimate therefore more hp?
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...42&forum_id=49

Mod's all work together not on top of eachother. Most HP claims are not made on stock cars. when you see intakes that ad 30hp, that's not to a stock car. 40hp from headers is not on a bone stock LS1 i promise you that. It's no different with the tune.

But Headers + Intake + tune will give you more power than any one or two of the above would give you on its own.

Bottom line is, lots of us have offered objective and empirical information on mods - but you choose to ignore it. In that case, just buy the mods you have listed in your opening post, get the magic tune and tell us how that is working out for you.

You might as well do a cam too, to guarantee your 400 rwhp goal.

You can put a weak *** sleeper cam in there and no one will know about it. You wont hear or feel it. Or you could go ***** out and put something big in there. But this you will feel and hear..

Actually, it has been done before. Search for Robert Judd. He's a local tuner and has done some amazing things around here.

Don't quote me on this, but he tuned a Z06 with a Vararam and exhaust, and got 400rwhp. I am close to certain those were the only mods. Definately no cam/headers. He was even suprised himself by the results. The owner of the Z06 is on this forum as well. Can't recall the name.

Another friend of mine on here got 400rwhp with only a cam, vararam and catback...again, with the aid of Robert's tuning. And this was an LS1.

I am going to try and get mine dynoed this weekend, and I'll post the results. Cam+heads+headers+CAI.

There are people out there who can really do wonders with a tune. Not many, but they do exist.
