I use Red Line MTL (Manual Transmission Lubricant) in my MN6. Alot of others prefer the Red Line D4. It's similar to the MTL but a little better suited for winter driving (read; cold weather).
Some local speed shops carry redline and occasionally a mainline auto parts store will have it. Check the Redline web page for retailers in your area. OR -- theres always cyberstores. Redline MTL or DT4 is definetly the way to go.
I understand that the early MN6's (1997 to 2000 I think) have the paper synchro rings, and that the the Motul (and maybe the Redline???) will harm the paper synchro rings. I understand that you should use a "Dextron compatible" fluid. Synergy Mottorsports recommended the GM Synchromesh for my '98 vert . . . FWIW
I just had my 6-speed changed with Royal Purple. Everyone who posted about RP highly recommended it, said it really improved the shifting. I can feel maybe a little smoother shifting, but my car shifted fairly smooth before, so I wasn't expecting much of a difference anyway.
Amsoil is great stuff and available at most auto stores...

AMSOIL ATF meets GM Dexron III requirements and is what I use in my Z06 on the track. This is a PAO based fluid and doesn't have the same issue with the ester based synthetics mentioned above.
